Happy New Year! With all the delicious (and not necessarily healthy) foods that we all ate during the holidays, it is due time that we clean up our diet with some fresh foods (with some not so healthy options mixed in). There were also some NEW items that were released this week that I picked up on my recent shopping trip to Trader Joe’s.

Happy New Year everyone welcome to the first Trader Joe’s haul of the year we’ve got some goodies in this week I’m so excited there’s a few new things that I can’t wait to get into including a new wine so I am excited and I hope you guys

Are too if you are make sure to give this video a thumbs up subscribe and let’s get right into this week’s new at Trader Joe’s haul all right o baby just hold tight we’re at the moonlight I’m going to start right here with possibly the most exciting new item

That’s come in this week it’s the Snicker doodle cookies these are in the fresh section like where the breads are and things like that the bakery I should say the Fresh Bakery section so there’s a short shelf life on these because they are um a fresh cookie they’re not

Refrigerated or anything but I know you can freeze these and make them last longer I think you just have to wrap them individually in like I think cellophane or something like that but these Snicker doodle cookies look really good they’re soft chewy and dusted with cinnamon sugar looks like there’s 12

Cookies in here so there’s quite a bit and they’re very big I can’t wait to to try these these look so good and I really want one with coffee that sounds like the perfect treat right now actually so here’s the back in case you wanted to see the nutrition facts and

The ingredient list these are not glutenfree and it looks like there is a bunch of um or there could be some nuts in here so it could contain almond and walnut so just an FYI if you have any allergies but this is something that I’m very much looking forward to taste

Testing this week in tomorrow’s taste test video now I’m going to move on to a couple of the items I grabbed this week for our family so I showed you guys this last week the garden vegetable hash let me just tell you I made the most

Delicious meal with it so I actually got all the ingredients again to make it because it was so simple and so yummy so basically what I did did was I put some avocado oil in a sauté pan and then I dropped these into it I added a little

Salt and pepper and then my absolute favorite seasoning for vegetables which is this the Green Goddess dressing and I bought this because I am literally on the little tiniest little bit left so I can’t live without this seasoning this is like one of my absolute all-time favorites it just goes so well with

Vegetables so if you’re somebody that likes to cook with vegetables and you’re just kind of stuck on how to season them this is it right here it is so good it makes everything just taste better so basically what I did was sauté these I added a bunch of the Green Goddess

Seasoning a little salt and pepper sauteed that for a bit then I added this the soy chizo and so many people that are meat eaters love this soy turo so I talked about it last time I bought it but um give it a chance if you haven’t

Yet already it’s delicious and it’s so it it’s very versatile it goes well with everything so basically I sauteed the veggies I added the soy chizo cooked that up added a little bit of water because it was kind of dry so I added maybe like 1 and 1/2 cups of water and

Once that was simmering I then heated up my Spanish style rice in the microwave and I just basically made a little bowl with it and it was phenomenal and Tim had it too and he loved it he said it was delicious so if you’re somebody that kind of likes that style it’s really

Simple um fairly healthy too because you know all these vegetables were added and you couldn’t even tell I think it actually really made the flavor come out and it was just so good so if you guys were looking for a little meal idea there you go very simple very easy and

For the most part pretty healthy speaking of healthy the Sumo Citrus mandarins are back in and if you haven’t had these it is worth the little extra money that they cost because they are so delicious they’re different than regular Citrus that you might be familiar with like oranges even mandarins um these are

Different because first of all they’re much bigger than like a typical Mandarin and the skin just comes right off and they are so sweet and so delicious um so I definitely had to pick some of these up this week because once they come in they’re kind of a short season for them

And then they’re gone and then you’re sad uh but they are a little bit more expensive so just be aware of that try them for your first time see if you like them and if you do I’m telling you go again and again because this is the season for them and

They are so good I also got just a bell pepper for eggs in the morning I got some hummus and this week we went with some plain because um I did a hummus video I don’t know a while back I don’t even know if it was this past year but I

Think it was this past year I did a hummus video where I taste tested a bunch of different seasonings in just plain hummus and came up with a bunch of yummy different concoctions and that’s what I’m going to to do because I really like making my own hummus flavors and I

Know you can make your own hummus from scratch and I have done that once but I just I I need to get back into that mindset of making things fresh and from scratch for now though it is the hummus plain hummus dip and I’m just going to

Add the um dill pickle seasoning into it cuz that’s my favorite especially with cucumbers so that’s my go-to but the ranch seasoning actually was really good in this and surprise surprise the Green Goddess was really good too so if you haven’t seen that video I’ll I’ll put it

In the description below and you can see all the seasonings we did we did a lot of wild ones too really fun really interesting video but um it helped us discover which ones we like the best so that’s the plan for the hummus I also got some beefless crumbles just for uh

Any type of meal that comes to mind I really like taco salad so I did get some ingredients for taco salad and I typically don’t add beefless grounds my taco salads consist of beans usually black beans the Spanish style rice and then I just top it with a ton of avocado

And Pico Deo and lettuce the most is the lettuce I love lettuce so I got more iceberg lettuce the shredded this was so good it was so crunchy um and I just really enjoyed it so I picked up another bag of this um for my taco salads and

Then we got some Middle Eastern flatbread because the boys like to have the flatbread with their hummus and and it’s just like an easy goto quick little snack when they’re hungry so had to get that here is a brand new item this is a frozen item this is the chicken lentil

And caramelized onion peeloff it has saffron basmati rice dark chicken meat dates and golden raisins now I know I know you guys are like dark chicken meat again what is Trader Jose I I’ve heard it so many times of how many people don’t like dark chicken meat and Trader

Joe’s tends to do that often so um Tim’s going to try this for you guys in the taste test let you know how he likes it let’s check out the nutrition facts on the back here you go it gives you a perserving and per container which is kind of nice to see

The side by-side comparison and then here are the ingredients for you as well so yeah we’ll see how Tim likes it instructions are microwave or stov top I know Tim he’s going to cook it on the stove but this looks I the rice looks amazing I love bosotti rice so I feel

Like the caramelized onion lentil and the rice just looks so good I wish there was no chicken but that’s okay um Tim will probably enjoy that a lot he will also enjoy his pepperoni so of course he had to get pepperonis this is his like go-to snack he loves to just eat these

Straight out of the package so that’s his little snacky snack that he loves also got some garlic naan and this is just great to have on hand Frozen breads is where it’s at because sometimes I forget we have bre bread and then dun D dun it’s bad you open it and you’re like

Oh no mold so Frozen things for us is great because sometimes we go through a phase where we’re just like not into bread um which is crazy cuz we love bread but garlic na is delicious and we also got the mini French baguettes these

Are great to have on hand in fact on um Christmas Eve when we had our families over I had put out the what is that the garlic aago cheese dip oh my gosh that is so good I heated up the little mini baguettes that I had in my freezer and

The combo with the two oh my gosh so delicious I just cut them up in little bit- size and we just took the bread and dipped right into it it was so good um but it just goes to show having kind of things like this on hand for when you

Need them is really great and that is if you have the freezer space of course um but just saying kind of the Staples that we like to have in our freezer are things that I can like easily pull out and just put together last minute now to

Something that I feel like is maybe going to go viral I don’t know tofu sheets I I honestly I don’t know I don’t know how to use these so it says you can add to stir fry and soup or use as a wrapper um I’ve seen that they’re fairly long

And they look kind of like fabric honestly like seeing them out they look like fabric so interestingly enough all the ingredients that are in here are soybeans and water and that is it so I am really curious on how I’m going to taste this in the taste test I’m sure

We’ll just try it plain but I feel like it definitely needs something cuz if it’s just soybeans and water it’s going to have essentially no flavor and really what I want to know is the texture what is the texture like um and how is that

Like is it Pleasant or not um so it does say that the way to cook this is microwave there’s no other option here um so that’s interesting and we’re going to try it we’re going to be honest with you guys as we always are in the taste

Test and let you know how we like it and if you guys have any ideas on what to fill this with let me know because I am just I know it’s like such a basic base so probably you can fill it with anything I’m thinking maybe something

With a little spice so give me your tips and tricks um got some more sparkling strawberry for the boys and then this is a so this isn’t a new wine I I said it was a new wine but it’s new to us actually you know what I am pretty darn

Sure we’ve tried this in the past um but the wine guy was like this is my favorite I buy it all the time it’s a great price point so we’re going to revisit it cuz I’m pretty sure that we’ve tried it before in the past but um

We’re going to pretend it’s new to us and I don’t remember anything about it so here it is it’s the tenous GSM wine really cool bottle so so what it is is a 40% ganache 30% sarra and 30% Mor Vedra and I might have mispronounced that so here’s a little

Description on the back it says it’s a thirst quenching Jammy red wine it has Oak black cherry and cinnamon oh my gosh and it says you canare it with soy chizo and cauliflower tacos okay that’s perfect spicy shredded barbecue chicken bullan yay sauce and stuffed peppers so

I might actually want to enjoy this when I make my little soy thing again cuz I love that so much I’m going to definitely make that meal again and this might pair perfectly with it which is very exciting and um unexpected actually so also got some more reduced

Skillet mac and cheese for my son I already showed you guys the Spanish rice and then this is new as well we’ve got the Bane Gan bahara roasted eggplant Curry sorry if I mispronounced it I’m trying my very best um but this looks amazing and I don’t see on the front

Here that it’s vegetarian or vegan but I want to take a deeper dive to see what’s in here so it is not vegan because I’m seeing heavy cream right here but it is vegetarian so that’s exciting I’m glad that they um brought in a new Indian food dish and I love roasted eggplant

Curry throws me off sometimes because sometimes it’s a little spicy for me so um we’re definitely going to be trying this in the taste test and letting you guys know how it tastes it looks really good and oh maybe we can this might be crazy but

What if we dipped the tofu sheets or like rolled some of this in with the tofu sheets I wonder if that would be good I don’t know just throwing it out there maybe that’s weird but it kind of just seems like something that I would want to eat with like a bread or

Something like a bread like those tofu sheets so who knows what we’ll do in the taste test we’re going to get wild an experiment and then one last thing I grabbed is this sparkling honey crisp apple juice this is just for my son it’s still around so like I said I’m I’m

Going to keep buying it but essentially this is the haul for this week kind of small but lots of fun new things to try really interesting products actually um so I hope to see you guys in the taste test this week and you can find out with

  1. Looking forward to trying the frozen tofu sheets offering. In Cantonese we call it fu-pei when fresh and fu-jook when dried. My Japanese in laws call it yuba. I use in veggie soup (wintermelon, yum!) or in braised dishes with sauteed lamb.

  2. The tofu sheet already is so popular among Chinese students!! You can try mix salt and pepper and egg with ground beef/port and then warp them using the tofu sheet, heat up some oil in a fry pan and fry them until golden, then dip into vinegar. Kind of similar with dumplings. Also it's a key element for Chinese hotpot, so I assume you can boil it in water then dip into tahini (with salt)!! Let me know if you try any of them.

  3. Yuba tofu sheets are used in a hot pot then dipped in a soy/chile oil sauce. Gentle flavor if soy milk. Made by heating soy milk and when the top of the soy milk forms a skin it is lifted off and eaten fresh or dried. I have seen recipes to fry it or use in stir fry. Very healthy consumed by Buddhist priest as they are vegan . It’s delicious from Japan.

  4. I mixed tofu sheets with frozen cabbage and mushrooms (from TJ frozen section) in a skillet and served it over rice. I added seasoning. It turned out great.

  5. The tofu sheets looks like some thing like an eggroll sheet, or something like that. At least that’s the way I would interpreted the front. it looks like an eggroll wrapper.

  6. I love dark chicken meat. I get so annoyed when it's breast 😂 In Asia dark meat is preferred but Americans are all about white meat for some reason.

  7. We usually use the tofu sheets for Chinese hotpot. Just dip in hot soup for minute and eat with some chili+sesame oil something like that (we use different dipping sauce depending on different part of China). Also we use it with salad or wrap with meat balls. I like it in hotpot, with sliced beef, lamb, shrimps tofu and veggies. Hope this gives you idea about how to cook tofu sheets 😊

  9. It might make bread a bit drier, but I keep mine in the refrigerator and it lasts along time. I usually end up toasting it anyway so the dryness isn’t really a factor for me.

  10. The tofu sheets are supposed to be good in stir fry, but I usually see it as a wrapper for dim sum. It's usually fried then soaked in a sauce.
