I challenge myself to try every plant food I haven’t had before at least once. Here’s kumquat, large-white-flesh guava, and a jumbo green skin smooth avocado. When was the last time you challenged yourself to eat something alien? 👽

Kumquat get eaten whole with the skin. Great source of fiber, atypically high in fiber.

I prefer the darker green large-red-flesh variety of guava over the mini-white-flesh guava, but we’ll see how this one compares to the other 2 I’ve tried.

On the west coast, we see mostly small black skin avocado. I’ve heard the green ones aren’t as pleasant honestly.

Other things I’ve had lately: hedgehog mushrooms, spruce tips, quinoa flakes, and a high fiber version of hemp protein isolate, which is the highest fiber protein isolate I’ve ever seen.

Whenever I can and it’s within my budget! I still freak out when I come across produce not endemic to my region

Kumquats are great. Try to find a finger Lime or Calamondin for a citrus adventure.

Kumquats are my favorite fruit. So zippy!

I shop at a Korean market a lot. I got purple sweet potatoes the other day. I tried gingko nuts and wasn’t a huge fan. They have lots of unusual (to me) greens and herbs.

My parents grow kumquats. I didn’t like them at first but now a favourite citrus, just behind tangelo. No one else in my family seems to eat them though.

If you have any Asian markets near you, they are a great place to find fruits and vegetables that you won’t typically find in US grocery stores. My favorites are durian and rambutan.
