I think that’s a thumbs up Marion here welcome back to my Channel today I have a new video for you guys another Passover video I posted my how to host a Seder a few days ago so I’ll link that below if you haven’t seen it yet but

Today I have a very special little helper named Max he’s about a year and a half old and we are going to make Matzo Brei mommy yes so I’m going to show you guys how we make it so this is what we’re gonna

Need eggs butter 2 bowls some milk or you could use water and matzo and then we have some like toppings for ours we have blueberries and strawberries because they’re Max’s favorite but you could go savory and do like spring onions and

Avocado or you can go sweeter and do like bananas syrup anything like that it’s like an egg dish so however you like your breakfast it’s totally fine so max is going to help me with the matzah portion of thisand maybe some other

Stuff so what we’re gonna do is take two sheets of matzah and break them up into the bowl okay here are my two sheets and my little helpers is going to help me do the breaking part yeah

By the way if you’re new to my channel I forgot to say welcome I make videos about being a Jewish mom, motherhood and minimalism with kids so definitely subscribe to see more and give this video a thumbs up if you like it oh and let me know in the comments

If you guys have any special matzo brei recipes I’d like to try out some new ones this year the best chefs always sample their dishes throughout the creation so yummy like that okay so once you have your matzah broken up you’re going to take

Some milk and cover the matzo because you want to soften it just a little bit so I like to use probably about half a cup for two sheets of matzo and we’re just using an organic whole milk and like I said you could use water also I’m

Going to pour in about a half a cup and you’re gonna help me you’re gonna help me pour it in milkey matzo yummy and you’re just gonna leave it to sit for about two minutes or so well it depends how you like it I don’t like mine too soft I still like a

Little bit of crunch to it so yeah usually little bit leave it about a minute or two thank you I think my helper is going to have a snack of blueberries and I want to thank him so much for being a part of this video what

Okay so while your mat is something I’m going to do is take four egg and whisk them into a bowl and then I’m just going to put in a little bit of salt and a little bit of a little bit salt a little bit of pepper from flavoring okay and

Then the last step is to just combine the matzo and the eggs I feel like you have too much milk with your matzo it didn’t absorb it all you could drain a little bit off it’s also fine to leave it in and then I’m just going to take a

Spatula and mix this together okay and now we’re ready to fry it up I’m just going to take a little bit of unsalted butter – I’m just going to take a little bit of unsalted butter to heat the pan with and then we’re gonna fry it up okay

Now this is gonna cook on medium heat for about five minutes to show you really just have to watch and a little bit once or twice okay guys we just finished making our matzah brei just about five minutes

The pan and then we just cut up some fruit to finish off the dish and now I’ve got my taste tester helper here back okay yeah I think that’s one path I’d say yes yummy yummy okay guys thank you so much for watching this video I

Hope you liked it if you did please make sure to give it a thumbs up and I’ll see you next time bye bye bye

  1. OMG your little helper is the cutest thinggggg! I love matza! Its reallly yummy with fried eggplants 😍

    Happy passpver! פסח שמח!

  2. Love that scrunchy little wave! We adore matzah brie too, and I'm totally putting it into the lunchbox. My toppings are cinnamon sugar, jam and sour cream. Love the savory ones too in theory, more than in practice – the cinnamon sugar is just so hard to let go of! 😉

  3. I didn't know matzo brei could be sweet! My family always made it with salami and skipped the milk- just used water. I'll have to try it Max's way! He's adorable. 🙂

  4. You're a good cook. I'm a good cook at my home. You know, I'm used to shopping at Ralph's. I tried latkes for the first time last January, I just cooked some of them. I tried hamantaschens for the first time five weeks ago before this horrible coronavirus spread began. I've been to the Beverlywood Bakery in Pico Blvd and I tried their cookies and challah bread. And boy those matzos you have look delicious, isn't it?

  5. I’m so happy I found your page. I love it. Just made this for the first time and I love it. Also my 3 year old loved watching your son.

  6. I'm not Jewish (raised Catholic), but my best friend growing up was, so I spent as much time in shul as I did in church as a kid and vice versa for her. She was always a part of our holiday celebrations and I celebrated all of the Jewish holidays with her family. Passover was my favorite of all of the holidays I suppose because she was an only child and I happen to be a year younger than she is, so it was always my honor to ask the four questions at the start of the Seder meal. We were as thick as thieves from the time I was about 5 or 6 right up to the time each of us married and had our children, but we took very different paths as time went by and we haven't been close for many years. One of the things I will always cherish from my time growing up as part of a family with different cultural and religious traditions and that I carried into my adult life, was the food that I experienced in their home.

My daughter didn't have the opportunity to experience the religious aspects of Judaism that I had, but she did grow up eating lots of dishes made with many of the "recipes" I remember my friend's mother making… food that I've loved and done my best to replicate from memory my whole life. One of the things my daughter was obsessed with was Matzo Brei – or as she called it, "eggies and crackers". lol And now our grandson is growing up eating (and loving) it as well. My method is a bit different than the way you prepare it. I break up the matzo in one bowl and whisk my eggs in another with enough water to give plenty of moisture to whatever amount of matzo I'm using. (I grew up eating a savory version) I add chopped scallions, onion powder, salt & pepper to the egg/water mixture, pour it over somewhat small pieces of broken-up matzo and stir it thoroughly to make sure that everything is well combined. Then, while I slowly preheat my frying pan and add the butter (a generous amount and salted) the matzo has the chance to soak up the egg mixture almost fully. We like ours to be a little bit firm, but not too crispy/crunchy. We just add a smidge more butter and maybe a bit more salt & pepper (if needed) at the end and then we dig in! Loved watching you make this with your little guy!

  7. My youngest son had curly blonde hair, blue eyes and a nicely curved nose. He looked like a baby Art Garfunkle. You have very handsome young man there. Love matzo brei. Thank you.
