Ingredients Here

1) 3 TBSP of olive oil
2) 3 large yellow onions
3) 7 1/2 TBSP of ketchup
4) 1 1/2 TSP of light brown sugar
5) 3/8th TSP of chili powder
6) 1 1/2 TSP of hot sauce
7) 3 pinches of ground cinnamon
8) 1 1/2 cups of water
9) 1 TBSP of white vinegar
10) beef sausages or hot dogs
11) hot dog bread

Hot dogs so this is how you make it so what we’re gonna do is I took three onions I’m here come here with your camera people to see these so you see I cut my onions and I cut them like this and little you know three yellow onions

And what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna put three tablespoons of olive oil one two three so what we’re doing is we’re gonna put a tablespoon of oil for each onion that we put it so we have three yellow onions and what we’re gonna do we’re gonna cook these like for ten minutes

Until they’re like golden brown well they look like you’re copped so I’m gonna put it on five and we’re gonna cover this and then if Y this is cooking it’s a medium heating at a cop you know so they gotta cook without a sweat well we’re going to do we’re gonna come over

Here we’re gonna make the sauce the sauce requires half a cup of water for each yellow onion that we’re putting in there so we’re this is we have three onions are we gonna put one two and three so that’s a cup and a half of water right and then we’re also gonna

Put two and a half tablespoons above as well with that I’ll catch up so we’re gonna measure it you gotta measure it all this so that’s one two and a half right and then we’re gonna do it two more times for each onion and then one

And two and a half for the second onion and one two and a half for the third of Cascia and then we’re also gonna put two tablespoons of shoulder okay I think it’s to hold on brown sugar say say half a teaspoon light brown sugar what I’m

Gonna do is this is one tablespoon right so what I’m gonna do I’m gonna make one tablespoon of sugar here okay and that will add up for the 3 tablespoon three now we’re gonna put that in there then we’re gonna put a pinch of cinnamon it doesn’t matter

You know what amount but attention means a little bit so what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna take the lid off mm-hmm and we’re gonna put that and a little bit more like that’s a pinch of cinnamon and then we’re gonna put some hot sauce okay and it says one table put

Half a teaspoon of our sauce for each thing but I like to put a little extra because we also gonna put that chili we also soluble Michael right they also gonna put some chili powder okay guys so what we’re gonna do with the chili powder it’s ss-18 how much is that Michael

Honey 1 tbsp 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon and it says 1/8 I don’t know if I have 180 err I don’t think I do do white no no so what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna do a couple of these because that’s what I’m gonna do is make it like nice and hot

Raisa this is 1 teaspoon of chili powder I’ve Cheerilee palette so we’re gonna do – okay guys – deep enough chili powder and that’s all we got to do and now we’re gonna take this and we’re gonna mix it up okay we’re gonna mix it up see

How I’m doing just like this thanks cinnamon and chili powder and you’re on a sauce and the water that’s what you do to mix it all together in the shoulder just like this and then you see the onions they’re cooking here so what I’m gonna do I’m gonna take fire them I’ll

  1. Cindy I hope you and Michael understand that I am just anxious to try your recipe. Your accent almost assures me that this is going to be spot on! However, I am confused at the actual recipe. In regards to the sugar, you mention brown sugar, but, you use white sugar. Im just confused at the formula here. Understand too, that Im in the south FAR FROM NYC and I NEEEEEED a proper NYC hot dog with those onions right now. lol
    Please explain the sugar and the chili powder requirements for your recipe to me.
    In the video, you are using regular sugar, in your description, you only listed light brown sugar. Then there's that chili powder confusion I listed in my previous comment. PLEASE HELP!!

  4. Just used your recipe or as close as I could.
    I also added a little cornstarch/ water slurry to thicken mine up a little and used another recipe that added a little cinnamon.
    It’s delicious thanks for sharing your NYC recipe.

  6. Never had this NY staple on hot dogs before, but I'm going to try it tomorrow to fancy up our cookout meal.

    I saw the recipe in the description says vinegar, but I didn't see that added in the video. Is it necessary?

    Also, to everyone that tried the recipe and loved it, did you use 3/8 tsp brown sugar like the recipe said or 2 tsp white sugar like the video?…..and did it make a difference in flavor or consistency using one vs. the other?

  9. I lived in Vidalia, Ga for years, they say the soil in the area makes these onions so sweet some folks eat them like an apple. They are the best onions in the world!
