Anyone got a really old, truly vintage recipe for ribbon cake? I came across the term in the Foreword of this favorite old Maine cookbook and it intrigued me and yet…no recipe for ribbon cake!!!

I wonder if it’s also known as marble cake.

I’m from Maine and my Grammie used to bake wedding cakes. A ribbon cake was a two layer vanilla cake with frosting between. Usually the cake is dyed, each layer being a different color.

No, but the blueberry sour cream coffee cake in that cookbook is incredible.

Honorable mention to the rhubarb cake and the lemon pound cake with the lemonade drizzle.
