Today we are making a barbecue cob salad that is in my cookbook supper ready let’s eat I’m also going to give you an option for making buffalo cob salad so let’s Jump Right In it’ll be ready to eat as soon as we’ve assembled it okay you’re not going to need everything that

I have laid out here three of the ingredients are for optional um ideas is recipe as it is written in my cookbook calls for one large apple and this is an organic uh Fuji I believe or maybe it’s a honey crisp one tomato chopped I’m using what I have I’m using the cherry

Tomatoes that I have because we still have those available and um that’s what I’m going to use calls for half a head of iceberg lettuce or one head of Roma and again I got these from my garden and um I have this cilantro as well that I also pick this lettuce that

I’ve washed and put through the salad spinner along with the cilantro so I’ll just rough chop that also if you do grow your own lettuce one good tip to get any bugs or anything out even worms out of broccoli anything like that if you want to get the critters out of your garden

Produce just put them in a bowl of water with some uh salt leave them in there for a little bit the salt will kill the critters and you can just um remove the uh vegetable that you’re wanting to use and just wash the critters down the

Drain so that’s a tip that my mama taught me back when I was growing up on our 1830s Homestead you want barbecue sauce and I’m just using just a mark down uh barbecue sauce this is honey Cracked Pepper you could use whatever kind you want you need ranch dressing I happen to

Have this little packet left over from a meal pack that I got so I’m going to use that you need one cup of kobby jack cheese which I have here and you want some french fried onions um also I didn’t mention that you’re going to want

A can of whole kernel corn actually just need half a cup so if you have some fresh corn you can just uh cut that off the cob and use that now I have these sitting out I want to just give you some suggestions that you can use buffalo

Sauce instead of the barbecue that we’re going to use uh instead of the ranch you could use a blue cheese salad dressing if you wanted and then instead of the colby jack you could use a blue cheese and instead of the Apple maybe you could use

Some celery or even instead of the apple and the tomatoes so I do try to encourage you to go buy the recipes for starters and then Branch out on your own after that all right we’re going to assemble the salad so we just have everything chopped up and measured or you don’t

Have to measure if you’ve done this a while and you have an idea of what you’re doing that is fine I’m just going to use any kind of barbecue sauce we’re going to put a four a cup I’m going to eyeball it you’re going to add your

Chicken uh strips now this is where you can save uh Time by buying them pre-made you can buy them Frozen and you can cook them at home or you can buy them from the deli if you’re on your way home from work or a meeting or shopping or

Whatever you’re doing or if you just want um a faster way to have the chicken strips and that’s what I did today I stopped to buy them at the deli remove the chicken put it back in another bowl and we’re going to do something else in the Big

Bowl I’d like to know in the comments how you what you would do differently I’ve already given you ideas for the buffalo chicken so would you try the Buffalo would you try the barbecue or do you have ideas for a different sauce or a different theme now we’re going to put our two

Tablespoons of a buttermilk ranch dressing and like I said this is just a pack I had left over from a a meal packet that I had purchased came with it and we didn’t use it that’s 2 tablespoons of that 2 tablespoons of the barbecue sauce one two my next step is to mix

These sauces together I don’t see why you couldn’t use different types of dressings and then you’re going to put the lettuce now this is a little more lettuce than I need but I have chopped this using one of my favorite kitchen knives and then I thought you know what it would be a

Great time saer if I would use the pizza cutter so I did that I’m going to put this lettuce in here and save a little bit extra in case Mr patient wants the Buffalo option that I mentioned I bet he will he loves that now I’m going to move this lettuce onto

The platter this is just a false graph platter that I got at Goodwill just going to cover the bottom with the lettuce use lettuce from my garden you can use Iceberg you can use Roma just have a bed of lettuce at this point you just use your creative

Imagination if you just want to um layer everything on top you can do that traditionally a cob salad is kind of displayed in Rose let me demonstrate that and you can decide honestly it’s your kitchen it’s your rules and you don’t need this many tomatoes but if you had a bigger

Platter you could uh vary of course you could you know just multiply the ingredients my lettuce is not showing through very well is it but you get the idea and we are going to eat this for supper also what about making individual plates I bet that would be Delight you

Can make individual servings wouldn’t that be great so there you go there you have the cobb salad let’s make it a little bit more decorative here we could put just it’s your use your imagination see look at there what if we separated the onions and the cheese or I

Have done it I have decorated it in a circle before you can do that barbecue cob salad it’s one of my blessings and and I hope you enjoy it soon if you want to get the cookbook go to Heritage ways.com while supplies last because that cookbook is running very

Low in numbers and I hope it we still have some when you watch this video if not just stay tuned maybe we will reprint but there are no immediate plans to do so thanks for joining me and have a great night

  1. So glad I already have this edition of your cookbook because that salad looks absolutely delicious. Hope you are warm, well, and not snow bound…although, is there any better place to be than home? Not for me. ❄️🩵❄️

  2. That looks like an amazing version of a Cobb salad! I believe that a honey mustard sauce for the chicken would be great or even a teriyaki sauce!

  3. Watching this for the second time 🥰
