Hey everybody welcome into Farm cooking with Nan today we’re going to be making some tortillini SP spinach tortillini soup um not feeling so good today so I want to get something on real quick that I can get into the crock pot okay and uh have for supper tonight so let’s get with

It got my had get you to where you could see what’s going on um I have some people that complain and say hey Nan you got us up too close but you can’t see what I’m doing until I get you up close enough to see sorry okay first thing I’m going to

Do I’ve Got My Pan warming up uh I’m going to put just a dab of olive oil I don’t even know if that’s a whole tablespoon just a dab and then I’m going to put in one pound of Italian sausage let me get that off there one

Pound of Italian sausage and we’re going to sort of chop this up and get it going while we’re waiting on that to heat up real good uh I thought a minute ago I thought you didn’t even chop your onion so I’m just going to cut an

Onion save all my peelings and stuff to go in my bag and um I hope y’all are having a good day I’m so thankful for the rain I know that sounds awful I know it don’t work with my body but I’m so thankful for the rain that we can have rain instead of

Snow really I am because it just I got to move my car yesterday for the the first time in oh well over a week probably seven eight nine days or something like that because where I live when you get a when it stops u i mean

Starts snowing and you get snow then our place is normally the very end of the season when it when it melts out so I was so tickled to get my car out be able to go and run a few errands so I’m going to slice these up a little bit

And we’re going to go for it you hear that sizzling going to turn it up a little bit more and let it get going doesn’t seem like that uh the tag in sausage crumbles like like beef does so I mash it a little bit just going to show you that

Because I want this crumbled up in smaller pieces to go into my crock pot you say n why didn’t you just throw that in there because there’s something about frying your meat that gives it an extra better flavor it just gives it it’s just great

H it’s just great I I don’t like never like I’ve said before not too long ago I don’t throw my meat in the crock pot raw some people might and that’s okay if that’s what they like but cuz it does cook in the crock pot but I have to mash this because it

Doesn’t want to crumble up like regular sausage I’m going to go ahead while it’s cooking and I’m going to throw in and I wanted some pretty good siiz pieces of onion I don’t want it to I don’t want it teeny tiny pieces because we’re just going to get this

In real quick and get it to cooking just some bulked up pieces is all I want cuz when it gets to cooking it tends to go down to nothing you know but I want to fried a little bit get these onions sauteed a little bit until they’re nice and uh translucent

See you back in a few minutes okay let’s add some minced garlic couple tablespoon and I use one onion one pound of Italian sausage let that not slap my meat everywhere when you start smelling that garlic I’m going to turn turn it down a little

Bit cuz I don’t want my garlic to to uh now I’m going to take about a/4 of a cup of flour I want that to cook just maybe couple of minutes because we don’t want that flour taste we want to cook the flour taste out of

It just let it cook just a little bit I’m going to grab some broth cooked a couple of minutes I’m going to turn it off I’m going to put just a little bit of I’m going to put a PT which is two cups two cups

Of broth I’m going put just a little bit so that I can get all that goody up off the bottom of the pan okay now you can cook you can do this in like a uh one of your pots your bigger pots I can’t even think of the name of

It my mind oh see I got all that loose now we’re going to put it in our crock pot okay let’s get our sausage and I did not put a liner in because I forgot to but that’s all right for years I did it without a Liner now we’re going to put some spices in U we’re going to start out with just some cayenne pepper we’re going to put Just A Pinch that’s a pinch we’re going to put some hot sauce just Just a Touch that’s probably about a fourth of a teaspoon or a half a

Teaspoon we’re going to put some oregano I’m going to put uh I’m put about 34 of a teaspoon of oregano I’m going to put in U some basil I’m going to put about a teaspoon of Basil about a teaspoon of Basil uh I’m going to put uh

Some ground mustard I’m going to put about a half a teaspoon hang on well didn’t get quite a half teaspoon we’re going to put uh I already put my pinch of red pepper flakes I’m going to put a little bit of pepper about a half teaspoon or to a teaspoon my husband likes

Pepper so let me make sure I got my seasonings in there I got my garlic I got my oregano I got a one half a teaspoon of oregano got about a pinch of cayenne uh I got uh just about a half a teaspoon of hot sauce I put a half a

Teaspoon no about a half teaspoon of mustard BR mustard a four a teaspoon of pepper which I put about a half a teaspoon cuz my husband likes it and now I’m going to pour the rest of my um I put one I put two cups of broth in right

There okay now I’m going to put another quart which is four more cups so that makes six cups six cups of broth Now I’m going to put in a few cups of heavy whipping cream oh mercy I’m going to put in a couple of Cups let me feel I can feel in the thing put about three cups of heavy whipping cream in there and then I’m going to put some salt put about a

Teaspoon and see if that see if that does it probably need just a little bit more than a teaspoon a teaspoon and a half and then our other things will go in whenever right before it’s time to um right before it’s time to take it out I’m going to just

Taste I think it needs a little bit more salt about a teaspoon little bit more oregano oops just put about teaspoon that was a teaspoon and a half total I guess then I’m going to clean this mess up I’m going to shake just a few more of the red pepper flakes in

There I don’t even think I put any in that’s what I forgot the red pepper flakes you like a little bit of kick to it you know let me get this on I started to use it the other day and there it goes and I broke it right

Off there now I’m going to grab a spoon and we’re going to Stir It now we will put the rest of our um tortillini cheese and our uh spinach in there a little later I’m going to let it cook on high because it’s I’m a little bit late to me get my

Spices off of here uh probably going to let it cook for about three hours on high and that’ll be total three hours that’ll be counting my tortillini and my spinach and my cheese and everything okay we’ll be back I’m going to show you one thing

That I just about forgot I spoke it but I didn’t do it I’m going to do 8 oz of cream cheese my Mercy my Mercy I’ll probably have this all over me because I didn’t take the time but I’m just going to tear this off in

Chunks is what I’m going to do just cut it in pieces and let it melt that way it it melts just so much better when I tear it off in little pieces and I’m just going to tear that off you see just cut it in pieces okay we’re going to put the lid

Back on this thing’s on high and we’re going to carry on okay it’s time to add a few things in first I’m going to put in a bag of 19 Oz 19 oz bag um of cheese tortillini I’m going to put that in there then I’m going to put in one

Bag um let’s see how many ounces 12 oz bag of chopped spinach 12 oz bag of chopped spinach then I’m going to put in cuz this is just my I put in whatever I decide to put in so I’m putting in some sliced doesn’t have to be sliced you can

Grate it you can do anything you want to but this is sliced pepper jack pepper jack cheese I’m going to put in a few slices of that okay still got my crock pot here on high well I’ll be able to get it off here in a

Minute I need me two more hands don’t I stir this down into there now you season it to your to your locking T pretty good I probably should have kicked it up a little bit more with the pepper flakes or the um or the cayenne pepper I feel a little

Bit of heat just that little taste there um that’s why I thought the pepper jack might kick it up a little bit more we don’t like really really hot things but we but I do think that this is going to be really good it’s a rainy yucky

Day and so I don’t know I guess I’ll put in maybe how many pieces I’ll have to watch the video in order to to figure out how many pieces that I put in there we’re going to turn this back on it’s on high I’ve never turned it off and we’ll be

Back okay we’ve got our soup finished a spinach and tortillini soup now I’m going to tell you be sure look at this look at that cheese be sure and you know adjust the the hot flavor that I sort of spunked up a little bit on

Ours see hang on we get just a little bit more okay I’m going to grab this real quick and take a bite so I can get my supper on the table it’s going to be hot I left that tortillini in there and the spinach probably about 15

Minutes you can leave yours less but um I’m just having it with a we’re having it tonight with a piece of garlic bread oh some of that spice hit right in the back of my throat it’s delicious now I’m GNA say again you know regulate that spice

Excuse me boy that pepper got me got me going but regulate your spice if you don’t like any spices like that then leave out the pepper jack cheese or leave out the red pepper flakes it’s got a little Cayenne in there too so that’s going to perk things

Up a little bit but it is delicious it is delicious I soon as I got a bite that went right to the back of my throat where it tickled so but I just want to tell y’all that I hope y’all get a chance to make yourself some this is going to be

Delicious uh you can have it with crackers you can have it with just anything I don’t really think that it needs a salad or any side side dish at all I think the bread and the tortillini spinach you’re getting some good um spinach in there that you’ll never know

Your kids won’t even know what it is if they didn’t see the green if you are fixing this for kids then you might want to lighten up a little bit on the cayenne and the the pepper jack and the pepper flakes make it to fit your own make it to uh you
