Hello and welcome to Bugibba! Today we are going to try maybe the best Balkan food on the island The restaurant looks quite classy inside. Wow!!! The food is on the table and this is a true Balkan food Feast so let’s start with some of the dishes here.
“Tavče”, traditional baked beans in a clay dish accompanied by ciabatta bread and then this astonishing platter with grilled meat and some mushrooms and some veggies as decoration here we have ćevapi, chicken kebabs, bacon and ham stuffed with cheese, pork ribs, grilled mushrooms
And some potato wedges, vitamin salad is really breathtaking all these colors all these seasonal fresh vegetable Pie or “pita”, this pie is stuffed with leaks and we have some Greek yogurt and last the
Trio dips we have some ajvar and we have cheese and nut salad here and the last one is something similar to mesh potatoes with vegetables. My mouth is already watering so enough with an introduction, let’s dig in! The bread is still warm and I will start off with the simplest food on
The table baked beans something that people in the Balkans know very well and enjoy this food. Here we go! Nice and soft beans that tomatoey taste really enjoyable. On a normal day, just these beans would be enough for me but we have a huge feast here so let’s continue.
Next thing, ćevapi these are the minced meat fingers very famous around Balkans. Perfect ćevapi, nice and juicy not overdone, charcoal taste on it. Here we have a mix of fresh veggies grated carrots beetroot and some cabbage I believe. Next stop this chicken meat stuffed with bacon and cheese it’s really really looks inviting.
And the chicken isn’t too juicy but it bacon just give it good salty taste another perfect bite Let’s try grilled mushrooms. Very, very nice a little bit too salty for my taste but what I like about these mushrooms is that they’re not soggy they were grilled properly as well.
WOW!!! look at those pork ribs you don’t even need a knife they are so tender… So soft, everything falls off the bone… I almost forgot about Trio dips! Now these traditional dips, you can eat on their own you can eat them with bread you can eat them with some other food as well.
Let’s go with this ajvar looking dip. This is a proper ajvar this is a traditional dish that’s made before winter all around Balkans. Very simple, extremely tasty! Cheese also known in some places as Urnebes salad, let’s go.
That’s the thing, the cheese is on the salty side a little bit spicy you can feel paprika inside this goes quite well with bread. I pretty much Now understand how much bread is involved into Balkan cuisines in the countries like Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Montenegro and so on…
Okay, chicken kebabs or chicken skewers rolled into a slice of bacon let’s go! Chicken inside is quite juicy it’s not too salty bacon is this is good and it’s really that again genuine grill taste that we could follow through all the food here that I tried
Just look at this chunk of pork rib, the bone is practically hidden from all this meat let’s see if I can pull it apart just with fork… Yeah, nice and soft. First bite of the pork rib, let’s go. Finally something completely up to my taste! it’s so soft it’s so tender you can
Break it apart with a fork. It really melts in your mouth this was cooked for a very long time. Look at the very nice and thin layers of dough and these leeks inside. This is also one of the favorite foods in the Balkans, the pies the local pitas. Some Greek yogurt… And now, with the leeks pie.
Out of huge choice of this very, very tasty food on our table, definitely this pie gave me the best surprise! the pastry is so thin but every bite is really, really light there is plenty of food
Left on our table and we are all practically full. So I don’t think there’s going to be any space for desserts. We went through many different restaurants here and abroad this is the first time that we’re not allowed into the kitchen so unfortunately we cannot
