Valentine’s Day Cherry Hand Pies ❤️

You’ll be ‘filling’ the love when you serve up these heart-shaped treats! Crispy, flaky pies filled with sweet, tart cherries and topped with a scoop of Cado vanilla bean…go ahead, bake it happen!

Ingredients:
Cherry filling-
3 cups pitted cherries
1/4 cup sugar
1 TB lemon juice
2 TB water
1/2 tsp almond extract
Slurry-
1 1/2 TB cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Pies-
Your favorite pie dough, homemade or store bought
Flour for dusting
1 TB coconut oil, melted

Cado Vanilla Bean

Instructions:
Cherry filling-
Add filling ingredients to a saucepan and simmer, while stirring, about 10 minutes until cherries are tender
Stir together the cornstarch and water and add to the filling
Simmer 2-3 minutes
Remove from heat and cool

Pies-
Preheat oven to 350° F and line baking sheets with parchment paper, set aside
Flour your work surface and roll the pie dough out to 1/4” thick
Cut with 4” heart-shaped cookie cutter into 16 heart shapes
Place a large tablespoon of filling in the center of half of the hearts and top with another dough heart
Press edges to seal and crimp with fork
Cut a small X in the middle of each pie and brush the tops with coconut oil
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden
Serve with Cado ice cream
