50 second both sides, heat was 15 out of 18

Hard for me to tell but the first pic is nearing on the high side of blue and not rare. Pic 2 looks rare.

Looking at pic 2 the bottom side is cooked significantly less, likely due to flipping the steak onto a pan that had reduced heat from the initial strak placing. So couldve used more time. Hard to know though without seeing the sear.

All in all, if you loved it then it was a great steak!

I would consider that a bit raw, not rare.

So rare a good vet could bring it back to life!

Yes, looks great. What brand of headset?

Being the veterinarian, we might save her.

First pic looks mostly raw, but lighting can really affect the pic, was it really cold in the middle?

Definitely blue in the center. Eat around it, & use the center for steak & eggs..unless your appetite says to eat it all..

I never say shit like this buttttt…. A good vet could probably save it

Buy him an instant meat thermometer. His cooking skills will improve dramatically.

If that’s tuna it’s dope, but because it’s cow that is raw lol

That looks like a lot of meat for $5….

  13. yousippin

Its close. Needed 1 or 2 more minutes. At least now u know what raw beef tastes like!

  14. Asherdan

Please, buy a thermometer and quit guessing. Glad you liked it, though.

I know it’s unpopular but that’s perfect to me. I’d be very pleased.

I don’t like it when it’s so raw it’s still kinda slimy and glistening. Maybe like 1% glistening slime is good

“If you want it to moo, order it blue.”

Not much gray banding, which means same target temp in a majority of spots. You’ve got that basic bit down, unless you were just lucky.

Work on building an outer crust while also not getting any increase in your gray bands. Thicker cuts are better.

    Good job.

I don’t think I’d eat cheap meat that rare, looks great though

  20. DisposableDroid47

Did you let it get to room temperature before cooking?

Looks like you cooked it without it letting it rest.

that’s not blue people… bunch of kids in here that just eat well done steaks smh

yeah, if you want it cooked more, lower heat, cook longer. Teh sear is there but if you look at the 1/4 inch edges it’s beyond well done. Like your pan was ripping hot and you flipped it once after 2 mins on each side. anyway, the sear is too hard in the sense you ruined the top 1/4 inch which is burnt beyond well done. Good luck!

Might as well go bite a cow in a field somewhere

I personally would put a bit more heat to it for better taste and texture. Looks amazing little more towards raw than rare but a good attempt. If your boyfriend doesn’t have one and is getting into it I love my instant read thermometer. You can find it on Amazon and it’s red and flips out the needle with a magnet and the temps all written on it. Great gift for any meat cooker.
