I grew up thinking of eggs as a breakfast food, but then I married an Italian…

For Italians, eating eggs for breakfast is about as weird as eating Pop-Tarts for dinner. I still love my morning scrambled eggs, but I’ve also come to appreciate egg dishes throughout the day.

In this video, Eva shares some of the easy and delicious dishes Italians make with eggs for lunch or dinner (or breakfast, it can be our little secret 🤫 ).

How would you describe your mother’s reaction the first time she saw me cooking scrambled eggs for breakfast I don’t find a polite word to inscribe face let’s say that is not an Italian thing to have eggs for breakfast it’s more than not an Italian thing it fills

You guys with absolute horror these was the first reaction shock the only equivalent I can think of is if like I saw someone I don’t know eating like a cheeseburger for breakfast it’s just like what that’s not a breakfast food need is like eggs they are made or

For lunch or for dinner obviously I’m an egg for breakfast kind of guy but Ava has introduced a whole bunch of new ways to eat eggs into my life just about every week I would say there’s a day where maybe we’re we don’t want meat or

Fish or we’re out and Ava whips up an amazing dinner that’s egg based and I don’t know I was never really used to eating eggs for dinner but it’s uh it’s become a sort of excellent weekly tradition for us and so we thought that today Ava would show me three new egg

Dinner recipes that I’ve never had before and it can be good also for lunch that’s true I just mean anything that’s not breakfast no but there is also snake snake you don’t eat this kind of dishes as a snack okay lunch or dinner two most important meal in a day but breakfast is

The most important meal of the day everyone knows that how about some breakfast the most important meal of the day so this dish comes from P it’s called wava chip spons now we didn’t have the chip spons so I we used Le because chipa spale is a kind of onion

That they use before it becomes an onion oh like a like a a green onion H not not not green onion like spring onion like I’m talking about but a literal green onion a young let’s say young onion how I made it I just cook the leaks in a

Little bit of olive oil then I had three or four whole peel tomatoes if you have a very good fresh tomatoes you can use also them I I let the tomatoes with some parsley salt black pepper and the leaks cook until the leaks are tender then we

Break inside as much egg eggs as you think you can eat I cooked three eggs I had a little bit of black pepper salt I cooked them for 7 minutes but this really depends on how you like the eggs if you like the eggs a little bit more cooked you you

Cooked for 2 minutes more a little bit more runny you cook for one or two minutes less I like them runny and this reminds me of one of my favorite runny egg dishes which is shakshuka or I guess as you call it in Italy wova in Pororo

Yes with some differences but yes the idea is that but I’m curious to see how it works with leaks and how they can work with leaks good I’m sure I’m pretty sure good want a potito oh with the leaks it’s so good if you like leaks you like tomatoes you like

Eggs how they can be bed I love leaks which is why maybe I like this more than W and purgatorio I think so AA made that dish in this video by the way with the onion spons or in this case with the leaks it’s like uh maybe more complete

Dish the leaks are sweet the tomatoes a little bit of a then you have that faty round Taste of the egg I could easily eat this for breakfast I know this is what I was thinking right now I was thinking literally I’m scared that someone will do this for breakfast

Questy W Sono no Questa Sono I’m getting there I’m taking my Italian more seriously in no small part thanks to our partner Rosetta Stone I’ve been taking my Italian language studies more seriously than ever because of our upcoming trip to Italy this spring my goal is to finally be able to talk to

Mam Rosa without ever needing aa’s help to achieve this goal I’ve been using Rosetta Stone it’s immersive approach driven by Dynamic immersion makes learning feel natural and engaging instead of just memorizing translations I’m learning naturally through visuals audio from native speakers and interactive activities what I love the

Most about Rosetta Stone is How It prepares you for real world conversations from day one you learn practical phrases that you can immediately use to connect with people in meaningful ways and let’s talk about pronunciation Rosetta Stone’s pronunciation feedback ensures that someone in Italy can actually understand what I’m trying to

Sayo it’s like having a personal Language Coach right in my pocket with lessons as short as 10 minutes Rosetta Stone fits perfectly into busy schedules it’s easy for me to squeeze in valuable learning time whenever and wherever I am Rosetta Stone is offering pasta Ian an exclusive discount on a lifetime

Below a big thank you to Rosetta Stone for sponsoring today’s video the second egg dish is a dish from the center of Italy which means Mar share this dish this is called alom which means wait wait wait I know what this means but I’m confused it means like eggs with tripe well

In in trie EG there’s no Tri style in which tripe is cooked oh so how do you cook this dish actually it’s very simple because what you need to do is a very quick tomato sauce I used the onion whole peel tomatoes and a little bit of

Olive oil salt spicy pepper if you like you can also substitute the onion with the garlic it’s just up to you and then in another pan you make what we call frata maybe in French it’s known as omelet with some differences so it’s very important that anywh your FR is

Cooked from both side because we are going to cut it and then we mix in the tomato Sauce and we finished the dish with a little bit of Min and a little bit of peina cheese okay my trip free tripe egg tripe dish po ooh ooh the mint you can taste the freshness of me okay that’s very good it’s no mam Roa tripe but it actually

Does work in a similar way because the great thing about TR is how not so much the flavor itself but it’s an amazing sponge for tomato sauce and this actually works in the same way I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined making a frittata cutting it up and then

Cooking it in tomato sauce if you want to make it a little bit more richer you can add also some cheese in the frittata I think if you make a frittata we the cheese I was about to ask you if we’re would work see if you have a good rotta

Yes it works so the first one was from PA the second one was from the does that mean we’re going to the north north north north North this dish is from freia Julia which is north north of Italy is called wava in Fungo fungi mushroom like wav Tri was eggs in the style of trip here is eggs in the style in which some mushroom are cooked despite the fact that there are no mushrooms in there are

No Mushroom in B got it it’s a very simple dish what you need to do you need to do a very easy and simple tomato sauce in this case is better to use a tomato puree instead of whole peel tomatoes because really it takes 10 minutes the sauce to cook then you hard

Boil it depends how many eggs you want to eat two three four do you know after the story of Columbus Egg Columbus Egg Christopher Columbus colum he decid to go to India because he want to prove that the world was round and not flat and nobody obviously believed him so he

Start to challenge people to take an EG and try to how do you say to make the egg stand but it was obvious that nobody couldn’t so I took an art boiled egg without saying that it was an art boil egg and did like that so the egg can

Stand the world was round I’m sorry how does that prove that the Earth is round no it was proved that he could do something that the other people they didn’t believe when they oh I see then once the sauce is cooked you cut it off

The eggs you place in the pot with the tomato sauce a Sprinkle of parsley two minutes just to create a relationship between the tomato sauce and the eggs you place in a plate a drizzle of olive oil and Bon a PO oh oh you know how significant this

Second bite is for me because you don’t like boy eggs ever since I was a kid I really hated hard-boiled eggs just like eating a hard-boiled egg I don’t know it’s more of a texture thing than a taste thing for me because I love eggs in general

But it wasn’t until you started putting hard-boiled eggs in stuff like in a Southern lasagna pasta Forno and when they’re like cut up and mixed into things then I don’t have any problem with them whatsoever this is probably the closest I’ve come to just like eating an entire hard-boiled egg where

Not only does it not bother me it’s actually really good I don’t know I can’t understand what you’re saying because I’m a big fan of hard booil eggs if you are not like me that actually really you take an egg you boil and then you eat by itself but you want

To give how do you say you want to elevate the simple hard boy leg nothing better oh yeah no I highly recommend that I highly recommend that and I was not really expecting to be as into it as I am it’s one of the perfect dinner that you going to have thank you

Guys for watching and we hope uh whether you are an egg breakfast person like me or an never egg for breakfast person like AA at least maybe you got some inspiration on some new ways to cook with eggs for dinner before we go a quick shout out to

A pastor Garian who made some beautiful looking rusti leesi these are the stuffed uh uh puff pastry what would you call them Ro hey good job if you want to become a pag Garian just hit that subscribe button follow us on social media ostagar and definitely tag us in a

Picture if you try any of these recipes all right guys we’ll see you next time actually I think that the the thing about breakfast being the most important meal of the day I’m pretty sure that came from a marketing campaign for like a Serial company or something they just

Invented that they just started writing that on their box and now it’s become like an accepted medical fact God that breakfast is the most important meal of the day speak with us we have just a coffe in the morning

  1. Since she doesn't eat eggs for breakfast, perhaps now you guys need to give us a series of episodes with just Italian breakfasts!! Yum!

  2. In our Greek cuisine we have a very similar dish like the first one. There are two ways to make them, the first one you scramble the eggs in the tomato sauce along with some pieces of feta so that it melts all together. Or like Eva did you crack the egg and let it cook in the tomato sauce. Let's not forget the crusty bread.

  3. Harper, you have an Italian wife. Your pitch for Rosetta Stone wasn't convincing. Maybe if you were trying to learn Spanish or French or some other language, it would work, but it is hard to believe that you use Rosetta Stone to learn Italian when you have Eva around.

  4. You should not eat cereal or much of any carbs in the morning.
The body repairs itself while you sleep. This depletes any protein you have available in the blood. You need to replenish this with some meat or eggs.
However, most people who eat a big breakfast tend to eat fried things in oil or fat. That's not good.

  5. I found you guys a week ago and now have watched more than 50 of your videos..
Wanted to even book a Pasta Grammer tour but everything for this year is sold out 🙁
    Will wait for next year
Thanks for all recipes and the entertainment 🙂

  6. Listen up! I’m a bit drunk but I have ideas!! European foods often go with wine, BUT what about babies and kids? What do they eat? In America, they ironically eat bolognese sandwiches and PBnJs… etc. I’m curious. What is on the menu for kids and when are you two having kids? With love… GO!!

  7. The Columbus Egg anecdote, which is of course more legend than truth (if nothing else, because the world was already known to round at the time).

It's usually brought up as a story to showcase the importance of thinking out of the box, more or less like the gordian knot story for Alexande the Great.

Still nowadays in Italian, saying "hai trovato luovo di Colombo" (you found Columbus' egg) in casual speech is a way to remark that someone found the answer to a problem that was under everyone's eyes but no one could see before.

  8. Oh… so Italians also believe that nonsense story about Christopher Columbus, it's not just dumb Americans? Interesting.

  9. The comments are strange in this one…how tf can you take eggs, and when or how to eat them so *personally *? Like, every nationality in the comments has a very strong opinion. Crazy!

  10. My Sephardic grandma taught me to make ovos con tomat. Stewed tomatoes, s and p, poach eggs, put feta and black olives, cover, cook, eat. One day I changed it, instead of feta and olives I put a good quality French brie on the eggs. Everyone goes crazy for this. Of course both with lots of bread. Delicious 😊

  11. I don’t mind hard boiled eggs, but I’m with Harper a medium boiled or soft boiled egg with a creamy orange yolk is better than a hard boiled egg in almost every context.

  12. Let's normalize eggs for breakfast in Italy! Also considering that a beaten raw egg with sugar is a staple for breakfast/snack in Italy, expecially if you have your hens. All of these recipes would be a breakfast dream! On the same level of simple& delicious, egg-based Italian recipes, uova speck e patate (eggs, speck and potatoes) comes in my mind!

  13. The story that Cristoforo Colombo wanted to prove the world was round is completely false. People knew the world was round before Cleopatra's time. He just believed that he could sail around the other side and get to the indies, like finding a better route since the others were taken. He underestimated the size of the Earth, lucky for him the Americas were in his way

  14. Actually anyone of education especially navigators knew the earth is round and used that knowledge in their navigational calculations in 240 b.c. Eratosthenes calculated the circumfrance of the Earth.

  15. I have never seen this channel before, but I am here for that hair. Goodness gracious, I love that hair.

  16. I heard the egg story about Brunelleschi and his design of the Duomo di Firenze 🤔😉

  17. Whenever Cristopher Columbus is mentioned, I inevitably remember that everybody knew the Earth is roughly round and he was more like "uh, no, kinda more like a pear, watch me go to India in no time lol" and in the end he made repeated sailing trips around mostly Central America to raid natives. Glorious discoveries! Never even set on US soil haha.

  18. If I say what I'm thinking they will delete it. And they may even delete this! But the REAL men out there understand what I would like to say!

  19. I’m an egg any time any moment kind of person, and I’d love to try all these dishes.

  20. I love you guys but there are better options than Rosseta Stone. Really there are. I get it. They're your sponsor but Rosetta Stone has never been good in my experience.
You really need to just start watching the news in Italian. Watch documentaries or series and listen to music that suits your tastes. Trying to gain information or share information is how you acquire language. Interaction with an app isn't even close. It's devoid of culture.
P.S. Unless RS is giving you a downloadable file with all the languages ora DVD then their lifetime membership is probably bogus if they go under as a company. Caveat emptor!

  21. I have been vegan for the past five years. The two things I miss? Eggs and cheese. I loved hard boiled eggs, particularly deviled eggs, and very, very, sharp cheese. I admit I have had some excellent aged cheese a couple of times in the last few years. I'm not sure if I can eat eggs, even though I miss them, all as a stage of life of a being sort of thing. Thanks for showing the possibilities. 😊

  22. Another egg-cellent video. I always directly want to get into the kitchen and try some recipes out. Thank you for the entertaining information.
