Authentic spicy buffalo wings are a PERFECT food to serve on game day! Join Eric from Simply Elegant Home Cooking as he demonstrates just how easy it is to make these delicious crispy, hot and spicy chicken wings! One of the most important elements of this dish is to not over complicate things. You do not need any breading or spice rub for the chicken wings and the spicy buffalo sauce is made from just 3 main ingredients (hot sauce, butter, vinegar) plus some basic seasonings. These buffalo wings are a perfect snack for football days, but really they can be enjoyed any time you like! And be sure to make Eric’s homemade ranch sauce to pair perfectly with the wings!

Ingredients (Buffalo Wings):

-1 1/2 to 1 3/4 lbs. chicken wingettes (including flats and drums) approximately 12-15 pieces

-1 gallon peanut oil for deep frying

-1/3 cup Frank’s original red hot sauce

-1 ½ tablespoons of butter

-1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar

-1/8 teaspoon black pepper

-1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

-1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

-1/8 teaspoon onion powder

Ingredients (Homemade Ranch Dipping Sauce)

-1/4 cup real mayonnaise

-1/4 sour cream

-Juice of ¼ lemon

-1/2 teaspoon distilled white vinegar

-1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

-1/4 teaspoon onion powder

-1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

-1/4 teaspoon dried dill weed

-1/2 teaspoon freeze dried chives

-Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

-Set the chicken wings out of the fridge an hour prior to cooking. If you bought whole wings, cut off and discard the wing tips and separate the drumette from the flat. Pat the wings as dry as you can get with paper towels.

-Make the ranch dipping sauce by combining all of it’s ingredients and whisking together. Store in the fridge until ready to serve the buffalo wings.

-15 minutes prior to cooking time, preheat your cooking oil. Eric prefers to use peanut oil, but any neutral flavored oil will work. Preheat to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

-When oil reaches temperature, fry the chicken wings for 12 minutes, or until done. The skin should blister and become dark in spots, but do take care not to over cook as this will dry out the wings.

-As wings fry, make the spicy buffalo sauce. Combine the Frank’s original red hot sauce, butter, and vinegar into a small sauce pan over medium-low heat. If you prefer, add black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder and stir together. Bring to a low simmer.

-After 12 minutes of cooking time, the wings are done, remove from the oil. Allow to drain on a wire rack or in the wire basket in your deep fryer but do not place on paper towels as this will create steam and will undermine the crispiness of the wings.

-After wings have dripped off any excess oil, add them into a large bowl, add the spicy buffalo sauce, and mix everything until evenly coated.

-Serve and enjoy the wings with carrot and celery sticks, and along with the homemade ranch dipping sauce.

Hi I’m Eric with simply elegant home cooking today I’m going to show you how to make spicy buffalo wings the method I use is the authentic recipe that doesn’t require any breading you’ll be surprised how easy this is and these put to shame anything you’re going to get at a sports

Bar so stick around let me show you how to do it so I have chicken wing X we’re going to deep fry these that’s the authentic way to make buffalo wings not the healthiest but it definitely tastes the best I have one in three-quarter pounds which is 14 pieces you can buy

These pre-cut which I did or you can also buy the whole wing and just cut off the wing tip and then separate the wing it from the drumette so what you want to do you want to take these out a full hour before you’re going to deep fry

Them let them come up to temperature a little bit and you just want to Pat them as dry as you can get so I’ve already done this earlier but I’m gonna Pat them dry again before they go into the hot oil and I should also mention though

This is about as much as you want to fry in a single batch but you can certainly double triple or even quadruple the recipe to feed a large crowd you just don’t want to put more than this amount into the hot oil at a time when you put

The chicken in its gonna drop the temperature and if you put too much it’ll drop the temperature of the hot oil so much that you won’t be able to get a crispy exterior and I’ve loaded my chicken wing gets into the basket for my deep fryer if you don’t have a deep

Fryer you can do this on your stove you would just want to use a large Dutch oven and a candy thermometer to maintain a constant temperature of 375 degree Fahrenheit but if you have a deep fryer I always like to do it that way because

I like to fry outside to avoid getting a big smoky mess in my kitchen okay and our oil has come up to temperature so I’m going to add the wings and what you do as soon as you add them I’m going to set a timer for 12 minutes

That’ll give us a perfect you know crispy exterior but we won’t overcook them I’m gonna put that little and to prevent making a mess and what you want to do is every couple of minutes you just want to give these a big stir to prevent them from sticking together and

As those go you just want to go in there with a spoon and just stir them up a little bit like that so to make really good authentic spicy buffalo wings you want to make sure you get the sauce right and this is really really easy there’s only a couple ingredients so I’m

Gonna turn a burner on to medium low heat I’m gonna go in with a third of a cup of Frank’s original red hot sauce a tablespoon and a half of butter and some people leave this out but this is really important I’m gonna go in with a tablespoon of distilled white vinegar

And that’s going to give it a little bit of zip so what you want to do is you just want to kind of stir this as it melts in there until it’s bubbling and we could stop here but I like to add a little bit extra spice so I’m gonna go

In with some black pepper totally optional some cayenne for some heat and you can add more or less to taste you could leave it out and just a little bit of onion powder and garlic powder just gonna stir this around and after just a few moments our sauce

Is bubbling a little bit that’s all you want just a very gentle simmer so I’m going to give that a stir and our chicken will be ready in just a few minutes once it is we’ll combine it with the spicy buffalo sauce this is going to

Be great and I also want to show you a foolproof way to make your own ranch dipping sauce you can certainly buy a premade at the store but everything’s always better made fresh so this is a seasoning blend it’s a quarter teaspoon dillweed quarter teaspoon garlic powder quarter teaspoon parsley flakes quarter

Teaspoon onion powder and a half a teaspoon and freeze dried chives and we just want to add all those seasonings into a quarter cup of real mayonnaise and a quarter cup of sour cream additionally just add some salt and pepper to taste and finally you want to

Add the juice from a quarter lemon along with half a teaspoon of distilled white vinegar and then just give that whole mix tour a big star to combine everything and once you’re done stirring it should look something like this just give it a taste and sometimes you might have to adjust

The seasonings or add a little bit more acid either more of the lemon or vinegar but this turned out perfect so I’m going to set this aside in the fridge until everything’s ready okay these have been going for about 10 minutes so you can see they’re starting to get a little

Crispy we’re gonna get up let them go just a little longer peas are almost done okay so we’re right at 12 minutes I’m gonna take these off the heat just allow them to drip dry for a few minutes so here we go I’ve transferred our wings

To a bowl where we can combine them with the sauce and one thing that you want to show you these have a certain sound to them when you do them right they’re nice and crispy so we’re just going to add our staff and then give them a big stir

Some people like to toss them in the bowl I personally don’t I find it a little too easy to make a mess so you just want to stir them around like this till they’re evenly coated okay and here is everything plate it up let me give these a try

And when you do these right the wings are going to be super crispy on the exterior but still nice and moist and tender on the inside they turned out perfectly I really hope you enjoyed this recipe be sure to LIKE comment and subscribe I’m Eric or simply elegant

  1. Seriously my mouth is watering lol ! These look just like restaurant quality wings 🙂 absolutely delicious and beautiful ! Hmm I do love air fried wings but since I just got a new deep fryer I think I might have to give this a try too 🙂 Thanks !

  2. If you want to toss the wings in the sauce without making a mess get a bigger bowl or even a large disposable glad storage container with a lid. Just be careful not to put hot oil in the mixing container.

  3. Looks good. I've been trying to develop a sauce recipe. I kind of like going to some wing places that have a reddish brown color to the sauce and not an overly creamy taste from too much butter. I'm guessing the darkness comes from honey or some other brown base like Worcestershire.

  4. great recipe.what i do is the same thing except the sauce is just butter franks and vineager. my wings taste a little sour ish what should i add to fix. ty
