**Review:** Riga Gold Smoked Slrats
**Rating:** 4.5/5
**Price:** $2.99 at Rich’s Deli
**TLDR**: I thought I didn’t like sprats that much after about half a dozen different brands… I was wrong. These are a pretty perfect little smoked treat.
**Packaging:** you know the glass jars looks fancier, and they show you that golden skin shimmering in oil. These just look appetizing and well designed.
**The Fish:** Holy sardines! I’ve been having a difficult time finding sprats I really enjoy since getting into tinned fish, but I’ve found gold here. I first bounced off sardines because of sprats back as a teenager, and when I tried KOs here a couple months ago I was just not enjoying them.
In the meantime I’ve tried a bunch of sprats trying to find ones that I liked more than “these are fine” kind of experience, and here it is!
The fish is perfectly flavored and smokes, appropriately firm, and nothing “fishy” about them. I ate them fairly straight on a cracker with just a little dill. Eventually added a couple drops of hot sauce too, but I was honestly a little sad when the tin was empty.
I will absolutely have these in my pantry on stock from now on. Just incredible for a sprat.
**Would I buy them again?:** I already have! I bought a larger jar because this little one was only a snack.

I hate that you can’t edit your initial post… please accept my humble apologies for the typos.
$2.99 is a good price for those. Really tasty little fish. If you have a World Market in your area they carry a brand called Baltic Gold and IMO they are just slightly better than the Riga Gold.
This is one of my all time favorite tins (well jar)!
If you like these i would also recomend the Polars in the red tin with clear plastic top.
I am actually from Riga, and we all love Riga sprats back home 🙂
