Tomatoes 🍅 Fascinating Update Best Parts on How to Propagate Tomato Plant to Make Free Garden Plants

It’s fairly common name up here these are the yellow flowers I’m talking about they’re all over we’re on an out so today we went to Home Depot just to check out to see what they had and I was greeted by this stand right in the front of the nursery

Section so looking at the plants that were outside in this one particular rack which they have I guess a sale going on right now they look really dry but I wanted to see the prices and what’s going on so three for $10 for a four pack that’s actually really good but

There was nothing I’m going to tell you right now that I was interested in it I did go through all of them they were a couple different types of tomatoes but nothing I really wanted so then I went inside and I found this 4 for 10 now

These are smaller packages I want you to see the size packages it’s different I haven’t seen this style before but that’s a good price if they had something I wanted they did have basil and they had a couple things but nothing I was quite ready for there was some cucumbers and

Then they’ve got these different tomatoes and I kind of slowly went through what I wanted to do here was to go through and see what they’ve got available and so let you see the prices because prices are very different right now where you go and the sizes is and

What the plants look like now we here tonight are 47° just so you know that so we’re going to be cold for the next few days and for some of these plants it might be a little cold to put outside though I know our weather is changing keep in mind that everything

You see here wow $5 for one plant came out of green houses so it’s okay that they’re here they’re being hardened off really nice but the point is if you don’t get it in the tiptop condition you know as far as soil and planting some may just kind of sit for a

While until the weather changes so it will depend on your area your Zone your microclimate and everything and this is the plants that get in now they have new pricing there it is you can always stop this video and take a look at the pricing so you know

What is going on they do have a lot I will say that but here’s one thing I’ll tell you right now here in Southern California sometimes they have this all through the winter so just because they have it doesn’t mean it’s going to grow but again if you have a greenhouse if

You’ve got microclimates there’s a lot of things we can manipulate to grow I don’t know if you see anything interesting I’m still looking no sungolds though they’ve got this other tomato and I just can’t get over $5 for one plant I don’t know a lot of different types of tomatoes but nothing

That grabbed my fancy today they’ve got a different type of orange tomato and it wasn’t you know the one I was looking for I want some sungolds couldn’t get that one out but this one I could and that’s what you’re getting for that price it’s one

Container for $10 you do realize at the right time you can get a plant that size in about 3 weeks then you got the end caps and you know again uh different prices today so I wasn’t um wasn’t alarmed but I have a hard time spending that much for one

Plant so I am going to kind of take my time as to what I want to grow and buy right now I’m growing a lot of my own broccoli I started I’ve got tons of lettuce that comes up everywhere I even have tomatoes that come up on their own

Oh I had to leave some customer needed help sorry about that I’m back now so they did get zucchini and I know that I can start that from SE and it will take off like Gang Busters when the weather is good we’re still a little too cool at night but that’s all

Right just wanted you to see all the plants that they are now getting in lots of tomatoes look at that even corn spach stay small here for me it doesn’t get really big I grew some last year and they stayed small but they were still good look at that all the different

Plants broccoli I do have to get cabbage going Gary was looking around for different things and he almost bought some plants and then he changed his mind and we’ll get to that in a few moments because I wanted him to buy it but he said no and there’s strawberries they

Have and then I spotted my favorite this is my favorite Seascape oh I love it can you imagine that much for one strawberry plant I’m going to have to go find mine that are around here cuz I’ve got some odd ones that don’t grow good but those are wonderful they will produce

Strawberries all year here in Southern California even through the winter then they had the rack again I went outside to look just in case there was something for that price I mean one thing I couldn’t find anything couple different types of tomatoes but again nothing I wanted to

Grow I’ve got Swiss chard growing all over so I didn’t need that but this is what Gary was looking at they have a lot of different types of plants here different berries honey berries gooseberries you know and blueberries they even had black currant now here’s the thing he looked he

Studied and he put it back the problem is it will not grow here we are just too warm and he did research and Home Depot just had it with the plants that were delivered oh these are sun sugar tomatoes and notice they’re a hybrd that’s why you can’t get

The seeds and so are the sun gos but right now that’s what I want a su gold so I’m going to wait right now so he looked a few times they went back to the rack but the point is they won’t grow here so you’re going to plant it in the

Yard put all your time out look at all this they’ve got and it won’t grow so keep that in mind just because your Nursery has something doesn’t always mean it’s going to grow so you have to do your research if you are doubting something Google it

Look it up and if it says it is too warm or too cold you just have to kind of step away you can try it absolutely but it’s a lot of money to put out for something that probably won’t grow because we’re just you know in the

Summer we’re 100° and these plants just simply can’t take that weather think about where they come from in much cooler areas and that’s the way they like to grow so sometimes you just have to think maybe it’s not worth it but they had a good selection I will say

That as far as today looking at their fruit and vet vegetable plants they trees I don’t think I’ve got any videos of that we’re like $48 for small trees so trees have gone up a lot they had fig trees peach trees these are growing in British Columbia I don’t know if they

Grow even grow here no he was telling me no he’s not going to get it it will not grow here I told him to try it but he said it would be a waste and then I went through some of the flowers I looked at this and carried the honeysuckle around

For a while thinking you know that was a $26 one but then looking I found a smaller pot that was only $12 and honeysuckle I do know the hummingbirds absolutely love and they only had one look at all the flowers there it is one small beautiful plant it’s not the best looking plant

But put it in another pot give it a little bit of nurturing and probably would do pretty good I was so excited I knew this plant looks really beautiful and it would be great and I carried it around for a while but did I buy it what do you think

How would you know unless I tell you I really was looking for more of a Salvia or something or penans but they didn’t have anything like that today that I liked and I think the big big flowers that they get in the fancy ones it’s just a little too early for those they

Can force a lot of vegetable plants in greenh houses but the flowers sometimes you can’t fool them as much I know there’s so many beautiful different plants and yes I carried that plant around it’s so funny there’s more flowers geraniums over there and I do a lot of geraniums

But I’m looking for something more for the hummingbirds though I love color color will bring them in too then if you have hummingbird feeders around they’ll come to your feeder if if they don’t get anything off the flowers these I like those are beautiful I kind of looked around that’s

What I wanted you to see just what’s here in Southern California it’s amazing the colors you can get for geraniums I mean geraniums my goodness they come in all shades of Reds and pinks and everything and the best part about them you can just keep making free plants you can make hundreds

Of free plants from one plant the littlest cuting off of them will grow they do really good here and that I know because we grow a lot of geraniums this is all the plants they had and then back here is where they had some of their soil I don’t know why but

They put most of their Miracle Grow potting soil in the back and in the front they had other types of soil I think they’re trying to make people walk to the back of the store to get it oh looking for that it’s in the back it’s back there there’s those yellow

Bags they didn’t have them in the front because somebody asked me about it they couldn’t find it and I couldn’t find it and he picked up a few others he actually it was a customer he was going to get some steer manure he said it’s cheap look at that I’m still looking at

The Honeysuckle and I explained to him that for vegetable plants you’re going to burn them and they won’t do any good it’s it’s not going to do what you think he said but it’s so cheap yes take it from one that’s tried look at all the

Plants I told him no I spent a lot of time with them too and he was insistent on buying it because it was so cheap so I did tell him if anything put it on the very bottom and get something better for the top the one you put it on the bottom try

To get some leaves and different things so maybe something good will happen to it but anyways as I was going to say I didn’t get the honeysuckle I forgot we have a big honeysuckle plant on the other side of the yard that I never look at and

Gary told me he will bring me even baby plants on the bottom that have rooted on their own as well as branches that I can go ahead and start my own cutting so I hope you enjoyed this little short trip to our Home Depot so you can see what’s

Here and then look at yours and again if you like something and you’re not sure or something’s telling you in the back of your mind I don’t know if this will really grow here check your Zone check your microclimate and think about it because sometimes they get things in and

We can’t grow them here and though you can try I want you to make sure that you’re growing stuff you really need and really want before you put 100% effort into something that you never know that’s not saying you won’t grow it but possibly will not so think about that so

Everybody have a wonderful day and I hope you enjoyed this little peek at Home Depot and don’t forget to eat what you grow aren’t those beautiful I love geraniums and yet I never appreciated them years ago I thought they grew like a weed and I used to try to cut them out

Now I’m potting them everywhere these You’re Beautiful by the way I got one of those bye-bye

  1. Thanks for the video. I love looking at their plants, vegetables and flowers. The only thing to be very careful of is their trees. Make sure they don't have girdling roots before you buy them. We just recently bought a fruit tree with a severe girdling root. I didn't see it until I removed all the soil from the tree. I might have taken it back but it's a long drive and I hoped that pruning the harmful roots might be enough to help it develop better roots.

  2. Find a container with 2-3 plants in it, then transplant the other ones.
That way you get your money's worth.

  3. I like to toss geraniums, cutting everywhere in my garden, and some of them root and grow as long as they touch dirt or soil

  4. Yikes, plants really went up. Crazy! I plant 2 seeds in the cells so I could share a LOT or even sell the extras. 😃🍅🌶😃🥰❤️❤️

  5. hey, my neighbor claims that Menards goes down to like .25 per tomato plant but only for one weekend per year. They are in packs of 4 or 6 together. Seems he is much later to plant them. So, maybe it is a Mem. Day weekend special. chow!

  6. Robbie, I ordered tulle from your link and got it today🐸🐸 Can't wait to see how my neighbor's chickens react to it🤣🤣

  7. I go to Lowes for my plants I love watching your videos miss Robbie your fun to watch I feel like I'm there with ya hanging out ha ha how long can I keep my plants in the tubs I love your plantation ❤thank you god bless you and your family

  8. $5:00 for one tomatoe plant we better be starting them from seeds when the time is right, also I have a coral honeysuckle and the hummingbirds loves it .

  9. I found spinach does better for me by starting them in the fall and growing through the winter. This will probably change when I change climates though.

  10. Loved your shopping tour. Prices are outrageous these days! I planted Sungold tomatoes from a seed packet this year and last. Germination was only 50% and only 10 seeds to the packet. Better to just find a healthy plant or 2 than go through all that! I love my self sown volunteer tomatoes… though none this year due to a late freeze, I believe. Texas ' native red salvia would do well in your drought season. It reseed so readily here that I am regularly pinching it back to prevent it. Let me know if you want some seeds and I can send you some this coming autumn… the hummers adore it! Love your channel. You are my favorite w my " morning cup of tea!"

  11. Home Depot raised their CC interest rate to 29.99% and late fee to $41, effective Mar 11. It pays to read those little notices from your CC companies. HD customer service the changes are due to the industry problems. (They're being robbed blind.)

  12. So weird seeing summer plants so early! I mean we will have them by the end of the month but shouldn’t plant until May.

  13. I freaked out at the Home Depot prices in Orange County so I started from seed for the first time, a learning experience for sure! My goal was more flowers this year as I had almost NO pollinators last year. I’ve seen a few early bees so I am hopeful.

  14. I saw tomato plants at a 99 store yesterday – best place to buy them! I keep seeing prices at Lowe's and Dollar Tree go up. Lastly I was at Lowe's/saw a $1 rise in succulent prices. there, though, I buy plants on their clearance racks, especially when things are 50% or 75% off. For tomatoes, this year again I'm going to slice up some tomatoes and plant the slices – that generates a lot of plants! And Dollar Tree has had some interesting seeds – still 4/$1!

  15. Star Nursery Kingman, Arizona…… This company is based out of Nevada. Home Depot can't touch their prices or quality on plants, shrubs, trees, and cacti.

  16. Just say no and maybe prices will start going down! Try your hand at seeds after it warms up. They grow fast when conditions are right and much cheaper.

  17. The prices have gotten completely ridiculous!!!!! I refuse to buy from any of these big stores now. I've resorted to a few obscure local and online vendors and just doing things myself. Don't get me wrong, that's what I'm supposed to do but I must say I do miss the days when if I had an issue with a couple plants, I could just run out to a big store or nursery and grab a couple plants. Now nurseries are even worse than the big stores SMH. IDK who is spending this much money are generic, over stressed and drugged up plants lol
