HOW TO COOK “OXTAILS” AT HOME | SOULFOOD (Better Than TAKE-OUT) 4k

Today , I am cooking oxtails at home for my Soulfood Youtube family 🤗 These oxtails were juicy and tender to the bone. I did keep the fat onto the oxtails. It helps creat a beautiful texture to the gravy . If the oxtails are fresh , the fat will become your best friend. If they were previously frozen, you wont appreciate the fat. These oxtails were cooked on the stovetop for three hours! The tenderness was amazing . It tasted better than pressure cooking, slow cooking or baking. Just my opinion . Stovetop is the best way to cook oxtails unless youre going to grill them on the bbq grill. Thats a different beast 💪🏼 Lol!

Basic Ingredients: 3 hour stovetop recipe
Season To Your Taste :

– 6lbs of Fresh Cut Oxtails (6-7lbs)
– Garlic salt
– Fresh Oxtails
– Onion
– Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix
– Black Pepper
– Salt
– Green and Red Peppers
– Black Truffle Oil
– Slurry (cup of warm water amd flour) slowly
pour and mix into your beef juice to make
gravy
– Tomato paste
– Ketchup
– Yellow mustard
– Wine vinegar
– Brown sauce or burnt sugar (1 -2 tsp)
– Celery salt
– Tu Ling (5 spices) seasoning
– Nutmeg
– All purpose seasoning Tangie’s Blends or
Goya All Purpose Seasoning
– Minced garlic
– Brown sugar
– White sugar
– Canned butter beans
– Meat tenderizer or use a tenderizer mallet
– Habenero (1)
– Goya Sofrito (red sauce)
– diced carrots
– Thyme
– Beef Ramen noodle seasoning packets (2)

Hello my soul Fu YouTube fan as you know we are making some oxtails some juicy tender oxtails my way so I’m going to be incorporating um different flavors you may not have seen before but I promise you it’s going to taste amazing right now we’re going to season these up

I have a little container over here um for it to marinate in okay so the first thing we got to do is we got to tenderize them a little bit we got to beat beat this thing up a little bit because they’re oxtails they’re very strong very tough little

Pieces of meat that they cut up right so you got to get you one of these a tenderizer and that’s bone so you just want to kind of hit a little bit on the sides just to just to give it a little beat down and let him know who’s

Boss you know no I don’t support Ving just kidding we’re just trying to tenderize it a little bit all right so we going to do this with each tail not a lot of work you can even buy tenderise and seasoning that tenderizes the meat just to soften it up I watch a

Lot of videos I never really see anybody tenderize their meat so then You’ be cooking it for hours and then what we’re going to do is I’m going to take off a little bit of the fat not a lot just just some of it so here we have our tenderized

Um oxtails okay I use the meat tenderizer kind of soften up a little bit you know what I’m saying because you don’t want to be you know having tough oxtails and this is the most natural way to tenderize your um oxtails I couldn’t really tenderize these these are just

Like for flavor you know you can keep these and the juice and keep it as a bone broth or something like that put it in something else um so yeah so um I would like to show you how I prepare my oxtails it’s a different way I was just

Going through the grocery store and thinking of different ways to flavor them so I’m going to show you instead of buying um you know that expensive beef bullan I just bought two packs of these because these have beef flavored packets in them so although I’m not going to use

The noodles today I’m going to use the beef flavor packets that are in here the black truffle oil on them and what I also bought to season them up just for now all the other ingredients I’ll show you later because that’s going to play a significant part in how the oxtails

Taste once they are um cooking on the stove this is just garlic powder so we’re not going to add too much seasoning right now I’m just preparing them to be seared okay and this is the onion powder so I don’t want to waste um too much seasoning because when you SE he

Them you know it does cook to the pot and then you put the water in it and you get some of the flavor but um I want to focus on the actual meat to be seasoned this is my um this is tuling It’s Five Spice seasoning it

Has um a lot of the spices that you put in oxtails it’s in this seasoning okay you can find this in your International aisle it has um let’s see what it’s got It’s got anise Ginger cinnamon fennel black pepper that’s what’s in there okay so

Just to give a little touch of so y’all I’m going to do what I did I’m going to add some mustard yellow mustard all right it’s going to help the flavors to stick to the all right and then I’m going to add some Tangie um allpurpose seasoning

Doesn’t have salt in it or very little so I’m going to add that to it as well this is the Tangie allpurpose seasoning and um shout out to WTF with the family tabis I’m also going to add some celery salt not a lot we we don’t want to add

Too much salt we don’t want the meat to um stiffen up so I’m just going to hit it one more time with some black truffle oil okay I’m going to just rub it all into the meat okay and then I’m going to let it sit and marinade for about 15

Minutes trust me they will marinate it will get into the meat so we don’t have to worry about um if it’s actually marinating cuz is definitely going to marinate really nice with the uh truffle the black truffle oil it’s pretty easy to find black truffle oil now you find it in the oil

Section cooking oil section very easy to find you’re just going to rub and get all the oxtails evenly marinated it smells nutty has a nice nutty smell from the black truffle and it’s just amazing it smells so good with the mustard especially the mustard is really bringing the flavors

Together cuz the mustard gives it that deep Aroma okay so they look pretty well seasoned to me all right and I’m just going to let them sit for a few seconds I mean for few minutes for about 10 10 to 15 minutes I’m going to let them sit and

Marinade I have my onions I just did like a big chop of the red and green bell peppers and I did a big chop on my onions I want them to be long not too tiny I’m going to add some truffle oil to the pan so we can get a good sear on

Everything now this particular pot I’m using is um The Original Green Pan so this is a 5q nonstick ceramic diamond enhanced pan is a healthy ceramic nonstick pan it’s free of pfas pfoa lead and cadmium so the way how I have to take care of this pan is I

Can’t use non-stick spray and I have to use oil or butter and I can only use a soft sponge to clean it and have to preheat it for 90 seconds before cooking and the cooking is from low to moderate heat settings only so um it cost me $38

It was on sale at Target I wanted to try a ceramic nonstick pan I want to see how these um oils come out I’m just going to finish the bottle in here so today we used about 55 M milliliters 1.8 US fluid ounces of black truffle flavored oil

Jeppi that’s our local grocery store they sell a lot of imported Italian and European food there so I did find them I’m really happy about that I’m just going to add all of this in here they will shrink too the ox Sals do get smaller they don’t don’t stay as big as they

Look almost there okay so I’m going to add some more tangies Blends allpurpose seasoning I’m just going to go to town with this to make sure it’s just full of flavor and delicious I’m going to start opening up my Ramen packets to get my beef seasonings out seeing pretty

Good turn that up some more get them to Brown up a little quicker I’m going to add to this is this pinio sorry I’m so close this is a wine vinegar we’re going to add some of that to the flavor and we’re going to add some brown sugar we’re going to add

White sugar we’re going to add tomato paste we’re going to add nutmeg Browning Sauce black pepper shallots the Dalia onions peppers hot peppers uh minced garlic Ang Goya tomato Saito yeah we’re going to add some me that gives it the flavor that you want and we’re also going to add some

Some vegetable paste so that’ll be something too that I’ll be showing you and um we’re also going to be adding some ground cloves I love love love clothes I love the aroma and The Taste it’s just amazing okay fam so I have to come over there to

The stove because I have a gas range here so I have to use this one just to get the process to go a little faster it just taking a little bit too long over there with the uh cooking plate I need to get an induction cooking plate and

Like I don’t have one quite yet but I do plan to get one and I’m just going to take it on over here and get it done now over smoke see how nice and seared they’re getting that’s what I need that’s what I need to get my oil to look

Like you don’t want to play around with it you just want to get it done look a big one right here that’s nicely seing definitely searing now that’s what we mean never give up if one door closes another will open just keep drying never give up everything is searing really nice so

Now I will begin um adding my sauces I’m first going to add a/4 cup of brownie not too much like a little less than 1/4 cup I add some nutmeg Seas to Taste I’m going to add about a half a cup of some free know that’s about that’s about a half a cup right yeah about a half a Cup Water I’m going to add a half a jar of this minced garlic I don’t really care for the bits but I I dump most of the oil in it but just like about this is about 1/4 cup it’s not even halfy d this is one cup of brown Sugar Got about A4 cup of white Sugar in a touch show my gratitude I’m going to do about a half a cup of pin G wine vinegar that’s another half a Cup add some clothes these are grounded clothes some grounded about a Tesp Sprinkle just a couple of dashes of time sprinkles of God so a couple of Sprinkles also also I will be adding some tomato Paste richness and now I’m just going to Stir It Up got to stir this up got to mix it although it might be a little difficult to mix it’s okay that is a little hard to mix everything will shrink a little and break Down I’m just going to let everything thing get into the sauce I’m not going to do too much to It going to add some more water to it you got a lot of nice seasonings in here cuz I want I want more juice less water okay so now here are our vegetables our bell pepper red pepper okay it’s everything we have our Peppers our hot

Peppers I split them in half I split them in half so I’m just going to sit them in here actually I’m just put one my husband he’s like kind of iffy about spicy stuff I’m putting all this goodness in here all of this this is all going into the pot

And remember the oxtails are going to shrink a little bit so and so with the peppers okay so now I made nice slices I want long slices of onions in here so I’m just going to put them in here long ways just like this that’s the way I like my

Onions in certain dishes plus I want to do something different so the smell is really good it’s amazing how when you add all your fresh ingredients and sauces and stuff how they come together they just start to smell amazing I’m just applying Vidalia onions they’re sweet onion that’s why I’m using theion

And this is I believe the last ingredient that I’m I’ll be using is the uh peppers and onions um I’m just looking for my spoon anybody see my spoon I can’t find it oh here it is so now we’re just gonna let everything cooked down that’s all I let everything cook down

You can bake oxtails you can put them in a pressure cooker you can even um deep fry them could deep fry oxtails you do all kinds of things with your oxtails man but this is the more traditional way just cook with slow cooking them I

Guess but as you see I use a little bit of different ingredients for flavor you know every time I go to a takeout and I get oxtails they just don’t they’re like missing some kind of flavor to them I don’t know what it is but they’re always missing something I feel like I’m

Missing out on something amazing every time I go for octs they used to be amazing when they first you know when it was a big hit at first but I guess with the economy and everything everybody’s cutting back you know on their um I’m just going to cover

This I’mma turn it up I’mma let it you know go up high and then I’m going turn it down let it simmer on like a a very low medium very low medium for about I would say until they’re tender which will probably take so this is going to take about 2 to three

Hours so we’re going to let this simmer and once every everything is done I’ll come back and show you the end results so fam I almost forgot to put the beef package from the ramen noodles in here I just realized that that’s like one of the main things I need in

This this is little thing right one packet let’s get one more packet in there cuz I’m using this instead of using um like a beef bullan it’s so it’s too too expensive for me for one dish but maybe next time I can get the beef

Juice and you know what I like the most y’all I love M what is that stuff macaroni and cheese with my oxtails and then you put the juice over your mac and cheese oh it is so good you got to try it it’s super delicious one more thing family I forgot

To add the ketchup you need ketchup like two or three tablespoons is good this is almost but you need to catchup that’s like a must for oxtails okay y’all we got another two hours to go so this is how I made dinner and this is what I ate for lunch
