[Applause] [Applause] hi and welcome back to my channel my name is sizan and today I’m going to show you how I make my blueberry syrup so let’s start by washing four cups of blueberries we’re going to give these little babies a good rinse so that

We can get all the dirt off them cuz you don’t want that in the pot so now that you have them all washed up you can put those in the pot and you’re going to add four cups of water to the I use spring water I don’t use tap water and make

Sure you have enough water that you’re going to just cover them you don’t want that much water in there you’re going to want to add the zest of one lemon and you’re going to give that a good stirring and put the lid on it and let it cook Now as it’s cooking you’re going to uh look into it uh a couple of times you’re going to give it a stir you’re also going to crush those berries cuz you want to get as much juice out of those berries as you possibly can and you’re

Just going to do that until all the berries are pretty much crushed down and you have gotten as much juice out of them as you possibly Can by the time those berries are done there’s only going to be the shell left cuz you’ve pretty much crushed all the the meat and the juices out of them once we’re done as you can see I’m using a Sie to uh separate the solids from the

Liquids you can use a cheesecloth um I didn’t have any cheesecloth on hand at the moment at that time uh so you could actually just uh use the SI and just let it drain out you can use the back of a spoon just to hurry things along your

Impatient otherwise just let it sit and let it drain once it’s drained you’re going to put it back into the pot again and now we’re going to add the juice of that lemon that we use the zest from and we’re also going to add 2 cups of sugar

To this mixture and we’re going to give that all a really good stirring and we’re going to incorporate everything and then we’re just going to let it cook with the lid um on for a little while and then what we’re going to do is we’re going to cook it with the lid Off as the uh juice is cooking and you’re cooking it down um you’re going to find a um a film that develops and what you’re going to do is you’re just going to scoop it off just like you would if you were making Jam um that

Gets all scooped off as well so as it’s cooking down you’re going to scoop all that stuff off and then by the time it’s ready to be bottled um you won’t have that much on the top as you can see most of the it’s all gone and now I’m going to start canning

It this uh batch gave me about two of those jars um they are probably about a 2 cup jar um that I had and what I’m going to do is I’m actually going to can it because I’m going to use it later on in my kombucha and my kombucha wasn’t ready um

I had just started it and I didn’t want to leave the juices in the fridge now if you’re going to use it right away you don’t have to do the canning part you can just um put them in the jars and then you can put your Lids on them and

Just store them in the fridge until you’re ready to use them this uh syrup is so nice it you can use it in your kombucha like I’m going to do or you can use it on top of Pancakes you can use it um as a a syrup for uh carbonated drink

So if you have let’s say a soda water and then add some juice to it it’s lovely with some some lemon um it’s a beautiful drink for the summertime and uh so this this syrup is so versatile my favorite is probably on top of the pancakes when I finish my kombucha I
