Hello Folks!

So tonight for tea we had these wonderful roast potatoes. I always made my roast potatoes in the oven…the traditional way! But since getting my air-fryer, I’ve switched to using that exclusively 🙂 It doesn’t take as long and gives just as good a result in my opinion! Who chasing your potatoes…please buy a nice dry, mealy or dry potato variety! This will give you a lovely crisp exterior and fluffy interior. You want to avoid waxy, or salad style potatoes.

Serves 3-4 people

2 Lbs | 907g Potatoes – I prefer Maris Piper, King Edward or Red Rooster potatoes (something floury)
5.6 oz | 160g Fat – I prefer Goose or Duck fat, but olive oil, sunflower or vegetable oil will work.
Seasoning – I just use salt, but you could add any seasonings you like.

Remember to heat the oil in the air-fryer for about 5 minutes before adding the potatoes!
Add your fat of choice to the air fryer and put it on the ‘fries’ setting (195 degrees)

Peel and cut your potatoes – try to make sure they are about the same size.
Give them a good rinse in cold water
Boil them in salted water for around 10 minutes – or until the outside is a little bit cooked.
Drain the water and give the potatoes a good shake in the dry pan (with the lid on)
The potatoes should look slightly rough on the outside

Add the potatoes (carefully) to the hot oil in the air-fryer – they should sizzle! Spoon some of the oil over the potatoes.

Close the drawer and cook for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes turn them over, and sprinkle with the salt or seasoning. Cook for another 15 minutes

You may need to adjust the cooking time until you reach your desired colour.

Enjoy 🙂

Well hello there folks and a very warm welcome as usual back to what’s for tea and it’s lovely to see you again so thanks for popping over just to check out this wonderful recipe I get asked all the time you know when I show these in my Sunday meals of the week video

These are air fryer roast potatoes that you’d love to see a video so here we go they’re ever so simple to make lovely crunchy on the outside and beautifully fluffy on the inside but the potato you choose is quite important I am using Red Roosters something like this or a Maris

Piper a King Edward something nice and dry and floury not a waxy potato was going to give you the best result so you want to peel your potatoes and then you want to start cutting these up now you want them about the same size so these

Small ones I am just going to half through the middle and the larger ones I’m going to cut into either five five or six like I said just to make sure they are roughly the same size because we’re going to par boil these so you want them to cook around the same time

So this one is getting cut into four this is a very big potato so I’m going to cut the end off of that one and then again cut that one into four as you can see they are quite uniform so you want to grab yourself a large pan pop your

Potatoes in you want to give these a good rins with cold water just under the top and then you want to cover them with cold water just enough to cover them otherwise it’ll take about a fortnight to come to the boil so pop these onto your cooker bring them up to the boil

Once they’re boiling you can put a good Shake of salt in there so nice salty water is going to give them a we bit of extra flavor you want to Summer these for about 10 minutes just until the outside of the potato is starting to

Cook or look cooked I am going to use goose fat I prefer goose fat or duck fat I think it gives you the best roast potatoes but if you don’t have this or can’t find it something like olive oil will work as well or even vegetable oil

In a pinch so pop this into your Air fryer you want to get your oil nice and hot before you add your potato so I’m going to put this on for 5 minutes at 195 C so good back to your potatoes and they should be done by now so I’m just

Going to drain the water out of these return them back to the pan put the lid on and give these a shake in the pan because you want to roughen up the outside of your potato this is going to give you a lovely crunchy exterior so there should be looking something like

This and because we’ve used nice flowy potatoes you’ll get that nice flowy appearance as well so once your oil is hot get your drawer out pop some of your oil into a jug cuz we’re going to pour this over the top of the potatoes and

Leave the other half in and you can hear that Sizzle there so it should Sizzle put the rest of your fat on the top and put these into your Air fryer again 195 and I’m going to give them about 15 minutes on each side yours might take a

Bit longer depending on how many potatoes you’ve got you don’t want to Stack these up you want one nice even layer so that they cook evenly and these were mine after 15 minutes now you just want to turn these over with some tongs or even a spoon I’m going to use a spoon

Because they are very soft on the underside so you don’t want them breaking up so just flip them over and I’m going to put another we dash of salt on top of those then just put them back into your Air fryer again 195° for around 15 minutes if you want yours a we

Bit darker you can give them an extra few minutes it’s all down to personal preference but I was really happy with these and you can hear just how crispy they are there they’re just lovely so this is what they look like inside and as you can hear here you know

They are lovely and crispy on the outside and they’re almost like mashed potato in the middle they are lovely and this is now my preferred way to make these potatoes we had chicken pie some peas and green beans on the side with a we jug of gravy as well I didn’t want to

Put the gravy all over the top I didn’t want to make the tattis Soggy so do let me know if you’re planning on giving those ones a go they are absolutely delicious like I said and a huge thank you as usual to the supporters of the

  1. Good evening everyone 😃 welcome or welcome back…and thanks for popping over 💙Nice simple one tonight! 🥔 I’ll join you down in the comments for a wee while 👇🙂

  2. My method is to let the par boiled potatoes cool down (that reduces the moisture),shake them, put them into a bowl with a little olive oil, sprinkle them with salt, pepper and Cajun seasoning and then whack them in the air fryer.A healthier method and they taste great…Greetings from across the border..😀

  3. I bought myself an air fryer, about 8 months ago. Not used it yet. I'd like some figures concerning the costs of cooking, using an AF. I have gone back to using a gas hob kettle, as it is much cheaper than an electric kettle, and chicken breasts are cooked in the microwave. I was going to use the AF for the first time on Christmas Day, but Covid decided I wasn't going to do that.

  4. I love potatoes and have tried so hard to grow them. It is just too hot where I live and the ants are bad. I can grow sweet taters fairly well.

  5. A litttle tip, put half tsp of bicarb in when par boiling, roughs up the surface nicely when shaking them, especially if you can’t get the floury type of spud 😉

  6. They look good Cheryl. Now i usually use my air fryer to make my roast potatoes 🥔 always turn out well. We love marmite so I often make marmite roasties so mix oil with marmite then coat the potatoes in it. They are to die for, but obviously only if you like marmite!! 😊

  7. I cook them with freshly ground black pepper….spicy! It avoids adding salt , lovely but not good for blood pressure.

  8. I have to say, Cheryl makes the most delicious looking potatoes I've ever seen, whether roasted, air fried, mashed, chips, croquettes…..😋🏆❤

  9. Growing up, our roast tatties were made from the leftover boiled spuds of the day before. Thinking ahead, my gran boiled more than she needed. She'd have loved an air fryer! Thank you.

  10. I like potatoes done/cooked pretty much every way, so seeing this is just what I needed. A bit late to the party only having bought an air frier last week, and I wanted a few hints and tips. So thank you 👍.
