Is brought to you by Grandpa’s Cafe in Dana hold the Mayo it’s time for Mike Mayo’s lunchbox find out what’s being served with Mike defo and Luby the only show that covers food Sports and the proper maintenance of your car and now a man who had the distinction of having an

Entire Health Clinic named in his honor Mike Mayo I want the F FR sauce with the awesome f with chaa on the good afternoon everybody and welcome to another edition of Mike Mayo’s lunchbox boy it sounds exceptionally clean today uh we areer my engineering I think you’re on

Some great things are gave you some of his stuff and you took it my auditory clean are you experiencing right now no it’s great to be you know what grandpa I say this is your happy place May yeah really all my happy places that’s the

Problem Jewish sty in you I mean it goes way back to your roots you start thinking about your father and you start almost waxing poetic here whenever you come to Grandpa’s and then you start stuffing your face and I have to say this mushroom barley soup now normally

When they tell you the soup of the day is mushroom barley I make a face I go Mayo I make a little face I’m like okay you make a Mayo face yeah yeah like I’d rather have anything else this is delicious absolutely amazing mushroom barley Sou a sucker for a good mushroom

Barley soup and the thing is we’re usually here for our monthly visits on Wednesdays uh and usually on that day it’s split PE and then I make the face because I’m not a big split PE fan just saying the word split PE uh it makes me feel uncomfortable like I’m going to the

Urologist or something like that um I like split P I love it uh but when it’s Tuesday is mushroom barley day is there anything better even in the Florida weather I mean when it’s cold outside and you’re up north and it’s like 30 degrees to get a nice hot thick bowl of

It’s like a porridge and it makes me feel like um back in the old country like in Romania and Hungary and Poland I go that far back but I mean you know it’s a good bowl of soup let put that way the fact that you’re on hallucinogenics today Mayo I mean uh

Your descriptions of virtually everything that’s happen Trace elements I have not taken anything fresh but Trace elements always somehow oh yeah no those humbo county gummy bears are fantastic there’s no doubt about nor um I’ve beening for like two weeks now yeah that’s not obious so we’re here at Grandpa’s it’s

In daa Beach very conveniently located for myself because it’s around the corner and we did the daa double this week we had Shenanigans yesterday with Pat utter and that was great although you know the news landed in the middle of the show about Christian Wilkins leaving the Dolphins and he was gutted

You could tell he was just he turned into a Dolphin fan uh depression mode with a very bring view on all of this and oh and by the way they just sound shine sha Barrett who is not the same player but he’s definitely better than Andrew van GLE that’s I just like saying

Van GLE can’t we say van GLE and I understand Dave Hyde’s idea and we had him this morning and we’re not gonna talk a lot of sports but Pat left us P left very depressed yesterday and oh sh no that’s we’re on show the she is I got no seats for you

But there’s like the Dolphins it’s weird to say this but it feels like they do have a plan let’s not spend a ton of money for guys that don’t deserve it let’s get guys better for less and okay this is happening um and and so good for

Them and uh it’s right in line with being here at grandpas as they do everything right it feels like and they always have a plan my high school buddy the Sheik just showed up he’s he looks very lost and lonely um but he’s going

To take a share not join us on how how did he gain the name the Chic okay so again this is one of these great um College stories and we went to college as well as high school and uh it was given to him by a Iranian friend it was

Actually shiku is I guess a far SE word for one who wanders into the kitchen and nibbles so it doesn’t stand for wandered into the show where one the out yeah and he’s gonna probably start nibbling start nibbling up again he also lives like an

Arabian Chic he he lives high on the hog and he has his Peaks and valleys and um but right now he is uh you know living the High Life a snowbird that has a house actually permanent residency here in Florida always good to see him and uh

You know we were also going to have allegedly in the show um Mark Goldberg proprietor you know it’s always a little what’s the word uh faka here not faka it’s uh sometimes I get fabled lost yeah but it’s uh a show where we set it up to

Be here Tuesday at 12:30 because Mark freed like gets cionic though because of the crow well yeah and freed says oh I like to get out of here early let’s do the show early I it’s not our normal time it’s like usually he plays golf on Tuesdays and then it turns out yesterday

He said he couldn’t come here today so Mark Goldberg is GNA come on his proprietor co-owner and Goldberg Shin you also uh well Goldberg L they are slamed I mean every day of the week every hour of the day it seems like people are just pouring in here and

I’m going to give credit to The Lunchbox effect and the you know you know what there’s a good buzz in here it’s always great and I’m thinking of this place like at this hour as sort of a breakfast place and I’m seeing a lot of great breakfast and lunches out there on the

Table but you sort of get a feeling about a place as soon as you walk in yep and you get the feeling this is going to be a good place if you’ve never been here before the minute you walk in the joint and you see like the variety of

Stuff that’s at the tables and the way that the people are enjoying themselves anywhere any place that you can walk in and get a of brown di black cherry yeah that is they probably kill you this stuff I don’t know I me is it any good for you sodas in general fantas they

Brew an excellent cup of coffee here and I drink it black and it’s smooth as silk and I this was generally regarded as among the best of diet sodas ever though the diet black cherry of uh Dr Brown number one I’m a guy I sometimes go on

The Cream side of the street I like their cream and cream soda yep uh Cel soda this is a topic that some people um find a little bit discomforting have you ever tried the Cel soda which is based soda made with celery but I think they

Put sugar in it not salt or I I would say the word rhymes with ducks as in sus that would be it although what is this kacha or something it’s like I’ve been drinking a bunch of that hor it’s horrible yeah do it my cloudy what are they make it at there’s

Different kinds of stuff that goes into the kambucha it’s supposed to cleanse you and clean you purify kind you know those like hippies the ones that have what what’s the p smell and stuff like that I think kombucha is made from the socks and underwear of those hippies

That play hacky sack and with the pachuli and then they seep it like a tea I I think it was the Yahweh that developed this particular drink back in the day I don’t know when they I’m not a kombucha fan by the way yeah uh you know

What at first you drink it and you’re thinking my God I’d rather have consume my own urine sample but after a while you get used to it it’s not bad kuch it sort of is a little refreshing I have to say I would be the last guy I mean it

Been a Coca-Cola guy my whole life I used to love sodas to a fa yeah and uh yeah I mean I can’t imagine that I would ever find this even remotely appealing but but it it grows on you know my drink of choice uh def uh is two cents plane

Uh is sel yeah even when I get charged $5 like over at the Hard Rock Casino uh which I are you still sorry about that that’s a long time the other night and you’re still bitching about the $5 selt is really kind of it just offends my

Sensibilities growing up as a New York you know Brooklyn Jew and it was two cents plane back in the day most places would give it to you when I went to the midd Bas in Delhi growing up you would just ask for Selter and it was like

Asking for water there was no charge I was going to say it’s usually right along with water they’re like do you want water do you want here I think they charge reasonable rates probably something along the lines of soda but it was a big staple of especially the Jewish population’s diet back then

Though I mean we used to get the seler delivery at our apartment in Brooklyn where they brought the blue bottle bot those are heavy cases can you imagine those guys slepping it up right and then he would dump them all so he could play Punch ball for a while

With the kids and then uh go right back to delivering the Seltzer like I love that old days with those Seltzer bottles and I love Seltzer because I like drinking water hydration is the key to life my friend I think you know that walks of life hydration is definitely a

Key have you been on it what what I’ve been doing well I uh I didn’t make yeah all weekend long and all that stuff so you know I’m I’m struggling you know I had a little um so this morning I realized I do have a cardiologist visit

That was on the books for beginning of April and it turns out that’s when we’re going to be taking the uh College tour with my daughter so I had to reschedule this cardiologist appointment now I last saw him in September and he looked slightly alarmed and that’s when he

Wanted to give me the full body scan to see if I had any uh plaque buildup and things like that uh and we originally had an appointment scheduled for January 1st he upped the dosage on my lipat tour and was going to see where I was at in

January well lo and behold ble that his office called and said he had something going on so they rescheduled me for April because you know these guys like so I called today and I said you’re not on Medicare obviously no and I said otherwise you would have been in the

Next day that’s right and I I said I need to reschedule I’m going to be away you know and they said oh our next appointment is guess what month from April April 9th uh to September exactly august 19 really August August and I said you know he was a little bit I said

I saw him last SE I mean I hate to say it but let’s face it if there was something wrong yeah you must be fine you need to get this checked out by now and I was like you know he wanted to see me in four months and that was back in

September now we’re making this like an annual visit and I think I’m at the point where might be a little bit more than the numbers are saying got to get on the right path you look good today yeah black is very SL you look good no you look good

Today got some appointments later on going to try to get some things done you look no I’m feeling good today and again got a couple of bites of the mushroom barley little shitz going I I finished one I mean uh you know that that took no

No time at all and soon we’re going to be graced hopefully with Mark Goldberg if it ever settles down here and we’ve got uh a couple things coming for okay people might not think of a Jewish Bagel Deli place as a St Patrick’s Day stop but if you’re looking for corn beef and

You know corn beef sandwich corn beef hash and eggs great job you know I say before you go down a pat utter and shenanigans on Sunday for a St Patrick’s Day celebration like no other down there down the block stop off here on Federal Highway UT got to be doing it right

Andig you could party with like uh you know you get a a Reuben sandwich we’re gonna get coming out you get I bet they might even do corn beef and C nothing wrong corn beef and sauerkraut at least I’m sure and celebrate with the MC schwarzes you know that’s the the great

Irish Jewish Family the MC schwarzes will be here on Sunday um what do we got going in the world of uh well I know let’s eat is a total mad house as usual but the uh I wanted to talk about the Sun Sentinel has been doing these competitions of best blank in South

Florida you don’t sound like a big fan of the results I’m not a fan of the results at all I think it’s I’m not going to say it’s rigged uh but I’m going to say that it doesn’t align hey just drop it down here thank you sir

Look got sir we got a Reuben sandwich in the house for St Patrick’s Day we’ve got we’ve got all kinds of things we’ve got uh iced tea um don’t let him do it man no so again they had grab that ketchup I’ll put it on the other table

They conducted the best bagel contest this looks great uh and Grandpa’s was one of the finalist as it should have been and actually should have been the winner but you know I’m a little biased I live around the corner and that’s fair but I’ve been a bunch of bagel places

Their bagel’s as good as any bagel in town but they did not win and the winner was a place in pompel called Bagel Snack which I’ve never been to on Power Line Road and I need to get up there to do an assessment I’ve been to the other places

That was on the finalist list and again my objective pallet uh ranks grandpas above all the other ones that were in it including this new cumber called bagels and Company uh that’s in downtown Fort Lauderdale but The Bagel Snack I don’t know if anybody have you ever heard of

It you’ve been there how’s the he’s heard he’s never been there okay well I need to get up there Flo on the list they make a nice B I know and I I put in two uh entries and Flake witz was not I was a little bit surprised

They do a good job um there’s a bagel speaking of bagels award winning Bagels we’ve got an everything bagel toasted for Lu with his plate um but flak wits I think should have been on the finalist list wasn’t I was surprised but uh in my mind grandpa I think they should have a

Judged component along with the popular that’s what I’m saying like how are they doing these things because just by Fried Chicken one was weird like it’s a popularity contest and whoever has the best social media that gets as many of its uh customers and fans to just vote I

Know the sun sental is limiting like they’re not allowing Bots you know they they have the IP address uh uh identifiers so that you can only vote once per IP address who’s in charge of the voting Matt gets I mean how does this work with the sun now it’s a guy

Named David shes who’s one of the admins and you know co-founders of the let E Group who’s been doing it today they announced those kind of surveys often come up with a place though that uh not not that they’re fugazy but where you know you’re thinking here’s a guy people

You know should respect your opinion on Bagels no mayo I mean come on you’re a Jewish says they make a great Bagel what Bagel snacks I’ve heard very widely conflicting opinions about Bagel Snack I’ve heard from people that it’s good I’ve heard from other people that it’s

Terrible so people have said it’s not good just not good and that right Goldbergs are very similar obviously I don’t know they’re one and the same tremendous simar Bagels on Commercial a great job lewitz I’ve always been happy anytime going in there and I’m sure there are

Others well now it’s on to the barbecue competition so the Sun Sentinel was collecting people’s nominations and they released their list of five finalists for best barbecue in South Florida and I was a little bit shocked at the list because while some of them are worthy and they’re good I was shocked because

Like one of my favorite places which is in Fort Lauderdale Smoke Barbecue which I think does an excellent job and they’re one of the few PL besides having good brisket and ribs and uh uh they’re kind of like a real Texas kind of smokehouse they have the jalapeno

Cheddar sausage that they put on a brisket sandwich it’s a it’s a fantastic sandwich but um they also do an in-house from start to finish pastrami so oh wow even though it’s not a classic Jewish pastrami at one point I think their Pam was like so good a barbecue Pam it’s

Well it’s what they do is they brine it in a bath of all kinds of you know uh spices and uh and herbs and and pink Himalayan salt for about um I think it’s like a six day brine oh wow then they take it out they dry it they pat it off

They coat it with all the coriander and pepper around the exter and then they smoke it for a long time like 14 hours and then they let it rest and then they slice it up and it’s like a I think it’s an eight day uh start to finish process longer than Passover it

Is about as long you could start a pamy there and by the time Passover is done you could put it on Ry yeah so um anyway I was shocked that they didn’t even make the list they did not make the finalist list I was told by insiders David shutz that it was very

Tight for the number five spot and smoke just got edged for the number five spot you need that guy jool AR so here are the five here are the five finalists looks like Sheik got himself a turkey club and we got to make room she went

Nuts well the Sheik the Sheik not just for Arab Arabian Chic and lives like a sultan but also Shamu one who wanders into the kitchen or sometimes one who wanders into Grandpa’s at the table for The Lunchbox and just sits down and starts eating now this

Man wild Mayo free to he’s done more cocaine than you have he spent five years in Costa Rica I was thinking about that today I was thinking how the hell did I survive so our friend Brian asked about Tom Jenkins where like wait so let me get to the

Five I’ll just do it real quick in alphabetical order apocalypse barbecue in Miami which is fantastic I have not made it to their brick and mortar yet they started as a food truck and they won the competition at the visit Lauderdale food Festival their annual uh barbecue battle poolside barbecue battle

That we attended you were there this year you had the apocalypse that was that rib with coffe uh apocalypse just um universally praised by critics and the uh a lot fun different things and people like that it’s down in Miami all right that’s number one number two place that we’re

Familiar witho licky sticky barbecue that’s great our friend Juliet congrats to her because we do love her no the food’s great the only issue is the way she does pricing not even that pricing is high it’s just the way she you know I don’t know if she’s revised anything yet

But the quality of her CU excellent that jerked pork uh was outand everything was great and everything there her size there was nothing that you bu everything was fantastic apocalypse licky sticky then we got Mr Lee’s smoking good barbecue which is a food truck apparently is going to be going brick

And mortar but up in the Bon Beach Del Rey Beach area guy named Lee seagull I I think it’s it’s he is strongly supported by the folks at the red meat lovers Club because uh Evan Darnell knows uh some of the backers of Mr Le so they are very

Popular and they do a very good job they have some excellent brisket I’ve tasted Mr Lee so you know that’s uh that one was to me a little bit of a surprise because it’s relatively new and it’s also on the um just newer side of the street and then the other two are

Um Tom Jenkins Tom Jenkins did okay that Tom Jenkins a longtime Fort Lauderdale favorite our friend Brian voted for my dad would have voted for them to me I haven’t been in there been like a decade so I don’t know what I was in there

Around the time of Co like when we for people it was like 20 2021 and they were doing takeout only I think it’s slipped a little bit and I hate to be brutally honest it used to be run by two guys that formerly worked at IBM and they did

Uh barbecue uh smoking on the side on the weekends as a side hustle they then became so popular they opened their own place well they hit I guess retirement age and they left it to the kids and I just think it had slipped a little bit

But they still do a mighty fine job with their uh St Louis style ribs so again very popular with the fort lell crowd and that’s the biggest base for the uh Sun Sentinel people oh and the last but not least a friend of the show friend of

Let’s Eat South Florida pigy barbecue in Boon Beach a guy Nam that’s a great name Tom radm who is active on the group and he makes an outstanding he also does a pastrami and uh I’d say that’s worthy I mean these are all worthy finalists our friend Lisa asked about Georgia pig is

There any also RS or anything like that Dixie Pig Dixie Pig and Georgia Pig I would put them in this category barbecue is such a thing that’s specialized that I I say with barbecue you can have seven different competitions you ribs you could do chicken you could do pulled

Pork in the pulled pork category pulled pork sandwiches Georgia Pig and Dixie Pig I think are top of class that’s the thing like what are you looking for too like each meat is handled brisket bris better te really tea I I don’t know I think went by the wayside I think fire

One of locations Li you’re not gonna have any potatoes left start diving in I was a little surprised also our friend uh Geral uh with the fat boy boys barbecue has a couple of locations and I thought he does a mighty fine job with his brisket I think his stuff is worthy

Of inclusion in the final make barbecue one thing that’s tough it’s tough because people do brisket well some people do the chicken well some people do the ribs well you you like the uh Place u swich in pompo the um span the hog the hog does a nice job J you’re

Span the hog fan I know there’s a lot of fans of Rob’s barbecue out in Davey um used to be scrobes which was nice SC but I don’t think they do the full smoking think they do little shortcuts there some boiling oh we got more stuff

There’s a Kish for the man there’s a yeah that’s that’s a def’s got his Kish give an old Jew a Kish and he’ll be happy it looks a little smoosh today right like I sat on it lookss a smash B like KES panis it’s it’s changed its

Whole composure okay well you know I’m sure the flavor is still great I’m sure it’ll be great I’m sure it be aome I just think you know there might have been Mayo might have had a little looks like somebody oh look my cardiologist calling he must have heard the show he must have

Seen me I got to get in next week we got to do that scan real soon um so anyway that’s the barbecue uh yeah I mean look it seems like the top five is a solid top five knowing it’s at least like with the bagels they threw some randoms in

There that people really hadn’t heard of at least those are all places that we’ve heard of that have a nice reputation it’s hard to do five I just I think doing barbecue without differentiating it sort of you know like Italian okay like how many p and there’s pars you

Know or or you know like it’s this there’s different levels of Italian there’s different styles of it like it’s just you’re sort of minimizing I guess they’re just going for the whole shebang which does the most meats and the most sized best um but you could go online

Now at let’s eat South Florida on Facebook or sunsentinel.com and uh cast your ballot for the final five and if you don’t think any of those uh you know are worthy and well they are all worthy but if your favorite was a right in candidate if yeah right in candidate or

Just uh sit out the election like a lot of people are going to do this November good good so we’ll see um let’s talk about our friends at Tropical Acres and we’ll take our first break um we’re here I’m so blessed to be in daa beach

Where it’s the home of so many greats I mean besides but for you to roll over here is I mean and call his work is a joke I no it is a joke yeah it really is I mean you love Grand like you know whether they were part of

The show’s sponsor roster or not you’ve always loved this place regular you love the Proprietors here they’re fantastic and uh wow I mean they do a great job like like we said everybody you look around everybody’s happy I’m gonna dig into the good sign of there’s no grumpy

Pieces no no no I’m usually a Rachel guy I like the pastrami more than the corn beef but in defference to the holiday week St Patrick’s I will go corn beef crazy I do like their corn beef hash here uh I think we did a good job of

Hiding the ketchup from Luby so he can’t uh desecrate you know what we we should let Luby dive into that 100% On The Break we’re going to let him just squirt as much ketchup as he wants on the corn beef hash but I would suggest that if

You go to Tropical Acres and you get their beautiful prime rib or F Monon do not defile it with ketchup it only needs maybe a little salt and pepper uh sometimes to get St would never do it but he should throw you out by the collar he would never he allows be a

Horse collar as he throws your ass out of there he allows people to be both their best cells and their worst cells if you want to put ketchup on your prime rib I would you’re not more heartily suggest his beautiful horseradish cream sauce or maybe straight up horse radish

With the aou these are the things I love at Tropical Acres and you’re going to love it too if you’ve been there before you know what I’m talking about if you’ve never been there what are you waiting for tonight is a half priz wine night and you know me here’s how I roll

Def and this is what’s causing my Y is just much conation I roll in there at about 4:30 when happy hour begins get myself a badier martini half price is like eight bucks insane then you get like some of that coconut fried shrimp on the happy hour menu think it’s

$ sirine sliders six bucks for two of them nice sirloin ground up then after you have your little snack you go over to the dining room you order a half price bottle of wine on Monday or Tuesday they got some really nice really nice wine and then uh you get yourself a

Prime rib or a filet Minon with comes with a salad and a side dish so once you go into the bar for the happy hour and get your little nibble you don’t even need to order an appetizer you could if you want and then you get out of there

And you look at the bill and like this can’t be right you’re missing a digit where’s the leading one there is no leading it’s so you would think Studio PR on the menu love them and they’re great people and they will give you great service go in there oh get on the

Books now get your reservations for Easter Sunday there usually closed on Sundays but Easter Sunday they are open 1 to 8:00 p.m. they only take reservations the oldfashioned way you got to give them a call over the phone make your reservation 954 989 2500 954 989 2500 tropical acres.com tell them

The Lunchbox at you all right coming back with more got a lot of good stuff here how’s the Sheik making out he’s not saying much about the turkey club which looks Fantastic’s all over that everything bagel I mean he schmeared that up pretty good and he barely made a dent in it’s

So hongas yeah you may have shown a ridiculous restraint so far’s wrong with you I’m I’m I’m feeling fit and trim today and I don’t want to MWI I’m also scared what my cardologist is probably saying I need you in here next week so well it might be

Appropriate yeah I me you want to keep the chicker going gotta get we’re coming back with more Mike Mayo’s lunch part in a momentt food from a scratch kitchen delicious drinks and housemade Spirits from a craft bar a great Vibe inside and out with a spacious patio I’m talking

Um start to Jewish holidays in September yeah and goes all the ways to Mother’s Day okay so it doesn’t end at Passover no no it goes It goes a lot a lot of people left the city yeah and they Florida and the Hampton yeah this is one

Of them my high school and college buddy mark schwier this is Mark Goldberg how are you sir and uh he uh he also is a big Bagel fan and he was touting me on this place when you guys first took it over it was saying you had your reservations well you know because

Anytime there’s a change in ownership Grand wasn’t main state Florida like it’s it’s been and you guys of course kept it going yeah and uh we kept the name Grandpa for car Grandpa she that’s one of the things she wanted is her tradition pres her and her husband to

Carry on and again it was such a high quality place since they started in I think it was the early 60s late yeah and uh now you’re carrying on that great tradition quality food Great Value great service all these things yes um do you guys and I was saying you know

We ordered a little corn beef today corn beef hat a Reuben sandwich because um not many people realize it but there was a branch in Ireland the M schwarz’s that was the Jewish Family the in Ireland no I just made but but an old partner of mine

Opened up um we had a kosad Deli in Rockland County and he opened up O’Reilly’s kosad Deli that’s classic and he lasted not too long so um well you know the corn beef here obviously topnotch you use the products yeah has the feedback on your Sal because a lot of people obviously

Your bagel are fantastic and the breakfast platters are but um when you first started off here did you think it was going to be as much of a lunch place or that it would tail off after breakfast no I knew I knew it would be breakfast lunch and listen we even open

For dinner we would do a big dinner trade but uh I want to have a life okay I like to go out for dinner 12h hour days are better than the 16 hour days where do you like to go out uh I always love to see what restaurant tours like

To do because you guys are really good about getting out there and trying to things yeah I you know I live in Fort Lauderdale so uh Runway 84 uh D’Angelo nice okay Kasa calabrio so you like like me I’m I’m a Jew that should have been Italian because every every other day I

Could I could eat pasta every day and clues when I want American food nice it’s good setting yeah um so it’s funny you mentioned Runway obviously we love Anthony Bruno and Pat Marzano and and Mark faletto now faletto and gang have come on board with the taco craft band

Correct as sponsors on The Lunchbox which we appreciate but I did a little tally I was looking because it’s tax time and I printed out my AMX report for last year um and we’re gonna make it this week’s tiebreaker on Friday is like how much did I spend in 2023 on my AMX

Bill on restaurants and that will dispel all the people out there who think I just snore my way through life and I never pay for yeah you have to figure Mark at least half of the places he went to he ate for free no this is not true I

Spend it’s taxu yeah tax seduction that’s the beauty and yes when we do the shows promotional consideration is given but I come in here on the weekends and I’m picking up bagels and locks for my friends and you know I’m you know does he go to his wet or just his daughter

Makes sure she’s our bodyguard she charges me double yeah she’s our bodyguard and I sometimes tip or two no um it’s all good but all right guess what I’m not going to give you the total yet we might use that for Friday’s show but guess what my number one restaurant

In terms of expenditure for 2023 was money Yeah you mentioned it oh anthy yeah Runway 84 was my top I was gonna say that the poker table the Chinese place at the poker that was one of my top three All I’m gonna give you the top three um and

Number one was Anthony’s Runway 84 number two was Council Oak at the Hard Rock and number three was our friend Pat Shenanigans makesense because it’s my local and all those playoff runs at the the Heat and the Panthers had last year they killed me I was in there like every

Other night and uh you know there’s only only so much snoring only so much texting I could do to Pat to try to get it’s always good to support local business yeah no and I love our locals you guys do a great job um anything coming up uh in terms of obviously

Passover you guys what you guys do with passing is there oh we’ll have um you know Passover a menu out yeah it’s April 22nd it’s uh the saders are late late this year I think it’s a next Sunday we have corn beef and cabbage you do I was

Making a joke that before you go to shagans to drink uh in the afternoon they’re not opening till 11: come on into Grandpa’s get yourself a breakfast you get yourself a corn beef hash or a corn beef last year I took all my extra green bagels and I brought it down to

Pat oh you do green Bagels oh that’s fun oh like that uh you know what I might do a triple header on this is hard to believe def cuz another another good friend of the show and and past sponsor Southport rawbar buddy he makes a really

Good corn beef and cabbage uh at the Southport and uh so maybe I might do the corn beef and cabbage at Southport three different places Grandpa Shenanigans and then I’ll hand out medals gold silver and bronze bronze and everybody will be a winner that’ll be great that’s it um

What’s your story I guess do you um go back to New York for the Summers entirely you come back and for a little I come back and forth yeah a week like a couple like almost a week a month how many Jet Blue Points do you have right I

Don’t know I don’t even know is it JetBlue or Delta cuz both of them well actually I use Frontier because it flies into IC oh one of those guys guys yeah going T right in TP how is Frontier these days not bad not bad okay that’s

It you know you pay for a little better seat and that’s good I didn’t even realize that’s the play if you’re going out to the Eastern shores of Long Island uh always good uh Mark Goldberg it’s always great to see you thank you for stopping by I know it’s crazy and I just

You all right we’re back on the lunch box we’ve got lubby we’ve got def we’ve got the silent Chic off to the sides he’s munching on his turkey club and uh she a very discriminating uh critic well he’s like me me and him he we were the

First uh you know this is where I kind of got my pathology from me and Sheik used to run around in Manhattan when we were high school students and like we would say oh let’s go on a pizza crawl today and have like five different slices of pizza and compare which one is

Best we would do Chinese food and we would and then go eat Chinese food bang bangs yeah this we met in high school St High which was in young slim may I was and I could really like kobashi I could just pack it away without putting it on and things

Changed but meanwhile Sheik belongs on let’s eat South Florida he’s he’s complaining the sandwich has too much meat is he getting a lot of chicks chicks chicks is anything I mean no back in high school I was not I was not into the whole uh dating scene I wasn’t a

Player sprouted young handsome kid he really was no I did all right I did all right in college what’s funny is though his criticism which isn’t a Critic that’s a compliment to a place that they give you a lot of me is something that

If he said it on the the page yeah tons of people would agree oh my God they they just do too much no and then and then if it was just a single layer of you know I guess talking about balance on club sandwiches and should it be

Double meat or should it you know be just one big thing of meat and then to me it’s like if it was one and then you post a picture and people would say there’s not enough meat you know so I feel sorry for these restaurant tourist

Because can’t win they can’t win so I always win every day especially when I’m chomping on one of these beautiful Reuben sandwiches should I do a big bite I think you should yeah it’s been a while I’ve already kind of nibbled during the break uh but we’ve got the

Beautiful layers it’s a really nice sandwich it’s not too lean I didn’t ask for lean have you seen this activity this behavior before he has he has okay all right here we go a little bit alarming but we’re going to go in for a big bite on sandwich in celebration of [Laughter]

Oh my God the people lady’s looking she’s horrified this guy just laughed what’s don’t do this at home yeah that we should have a disclaimer kids please please do Tik Tock is banned already I mean so what’s next a male lunch boox it’s inflicting pain on America let’s talk about the dolin yeah

They yeah right oh didn’t talk about any of that but there were body bags all around the facility today did you see that yeah they couldn’t take it anymore let me ask on a Reuben it’s supposed to have Russian dressing right cuz it does yeah they call it Russian yeah yeah

Mhm I still miss the mustard component would it be mustard I squirt a little mustard on the Reuben with the Russian I always add mustard you also sometimes I know I ruin it too but I have mustard good mustard would help you need mustard with corn

Beef I don’t know it just goes face I don’t know she is saying he likes open face I’ve never seen an open face I like an open face Bagel it’s my contention that nobody should ever squish two sides of a very my wife does that again she is

A gentile you got a little mustard I probably do my wife does that it makes it a sandwich my sister she’s Jewish but I’ve it just to me need that like a bagel you put the stuff on and then you just eat it I get it’s harder to eat it

And your hands get dirty but okay like that’s the part of eating a bagel or eating eating some of this tell you the sharpness the vinegar of the mustard you have to is essential Y and even though you got the creamy and the Russian dressing on there I think there’s no

Such thing as as too much when it comes to the condiments on a Ruben sandwich well then the S has a bitterness too so the mustard goes with that with the yeah it’s a nice bread with the butter and they Grill the bread that’s a good sandwich right there um a place that

Gives you the stuff to make good sandwiches will be there tomorrow actually oh right chicken month I think it’s because I’m going to New York for a stretch next week and uh some of the uh again the our sponsors we you know aim to please so when a sponsor

Including the weekend at Corvina Seafood Grill up in boa Raton uh really classy place you know like uh we have obviously our friends at even Keel which is like casual environment with upscale Seafood this is like high-end Seafood with a sophisticated setting yeah so we’re

Going to get in there on scheduled to be Thursday uh March 21st at 4 p.m. a special 4M happy hour edition which is going to make it a little tight a little tight for you and your uh land lovers no we couldn’t but we’re gonna be

There’ll be a hard out at 455 and uh you’ll make it down to land lovers for your uh trivia as usual but um my question was this um Facebook group somebody wrote something about a restaurant and it turns out the person person who wrote it was a friend of

Somebody who had gotten fired or a friend of a mother of somebody who gotten fired from The Establishment and I guess my question is this uh at that point the owner who restaurant was disparaged did a little digging on Facebook and saw that one of their friends was the both the person who’

Gotten the the friend of the person who left the post was uh the person who had gotten fired and the mother of the friend who gotten fired is that a little bit of a the convoluted thing so his conclusion was oh you know the person who got fired and you’re just leaving a

Disrupt thing what do you think is the appropriate respon like should a business owner respond to it and defend his business from unfair um maybe uh punishing or it doesn’t hurt to insert or you know somehow Infuse a little bit of what may be the truth right into the

Equation before just getting hammered yeah and I I think it’s okay that’s fair pointed that out I mean it could have been a disal person who was going to condemn the place and we see how that goes I mean it’s easy to write a scathing indictment about a place and uh

If the majority of people agree I I guess that that’s what you would have to go by but and usually when somebody writes something negative then then the people that you know they come out of the woodwork all of a sudden here’s a million people that hated the place all

Along and and that always disturbs this one got a lot of supporters defending the place so that that means you know the owner probably was right to State his position yeah I mean it’s a uh it’s one of those things where you know in this day and age the truth you know

Sometimes is the last thing that anybody considers and it’s like uh you just have to kind of consider the source a lot of times and in this case the woman was alleging that she found a hair in one of her dishes and that she was trying to

Flag somebody down and couldn’t even get and then she go up to the bar to complain and and that the the place has gone downhill blah blah blah but to me with the group and with phones now I want to see pictures I want to see photo

Evidence you know me I’m Barry Sheek I want to take DNA of the hair you are whose hair is it was it a planted hair or was it you know maybe an inadvertent hair that got uh placed there by somebody not how about Shea who got all of these people uh you know

Justly acquitted of various crimes they didn’t commit years after the fact but then when OJ was involved it was all of a sudden this was the biggest BS science that he’d ever heard of DNA talking how one’s position can change depending on who’s uh the client and

Paying the bills but in any event um if you are going to be making allegations about hair hair happens in restaurants say it’s one of those unfortunate things but take don’t don’t no don’t ruin my sand think you put a hair take it okay a hair wouldn’t stop him but that’s my

Thing like it is what it is I’m sure there’s a middle ground there where maybe they were busy and they tried to flag someone but they were busy like that doesn’t mean that they’re being rude unresponsive like hair happens they should bring you a new dish if it wasn’t

Your hair and I’m sure they would you know it’s one thing when it’s just laying on top and then if it’s actually cooked into the dish that’s a little off putting dis gruntled it feels like they disgruntled that’s they yeah uh I’m gruntled because I’m enjoying my excellent sandwich and uh another fine

You’re happy as I’ve seen you fine time as usual Grandpa’s come on out here they’re open for breakfast and lunch every day until 4:00 they open I believe at 6:00 a.m. it’s a pretty early uh breakfast stop for those who are into getting their day started right all

Right that’s going to do it for today we’ll be at Delaware chick tomorrow until then enjoy every Rachel and Ruben sandwich
