Easy & delicious french toast recipe
Ingredients:
10 slices of sandwich bread
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
butter for cooking
powdered sugar, butter, and syrup (optional toppings)
Instructions:
1. Place slices of bread on a baking sheet and bake in 350F oven for 5-7 minutes, flipping once halfway through. Remove when bread is lighly toasted (but not browned) and feels slightly stiff to the touch.
2. To a large shallow bowl, add eggs, milk, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Whisk together until ingredients are well combined and sugars have dissolved.
3. Melt 2 Tablespoons butter in a large, non-stick pan over medium heat. Spread butter evenly across pan, then reduce heat to medium low.
4. Dip slices of bread into egg mixture, one at a time. Dip the first side for a few seconds then flip and dip the other side for a few seconds, just to coat bread. Let the excess mixture drain off, then place bread in hot pan. You can cook several pieces at the same time, just leave room in the pan to flip the bread. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown.
5. Flip and cook the other side for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Remove from pan and place on a plate. Continue the process with the remaining bread, adding a little more butter to the pan (about a teaspoon) before cooking each batch.
6. Serve french toast warm with butter, powdered sugar, and syrup if desired.

Hey welcome to the homemaking Exchange in this video we are making this easy and delicious French toast I like to start out by toasting my bread I’m just using regular sandwich bread for this you
Actually don’t have to toast it but it does make it a little easier for the custard to stick and it makes your French toast a better texture I’m just placing this in the oven at 350° f for 5 to
7 minutes total I take it out halfway through and flip it then I put it back in for the remainder of the time I’m not trying to Brown the bread I just want it to feel a little bit stiff almost like
Stale bread then I take that out and set it aside while I make my custard to a shallow dish add eggs milk try not to make a mess like I did granulated sugar brown sugar ground cinnamon and vanilla extract then whisk those together until they are well
[Music] combined then I’m adding 2 tbsp of butter to a non-stick pan I’m going to let that melt over medium heat and then I will reduce the heat to medium low next step is to dip the toasted bread into the custard mixture I place the first side in
The custard for just a few seconds and then I flip it to the other side and then let the excess drain off then I’m placing it into my [Music] pan I’m going to let these cook over medium low for 3 to 4 minutes on the first
Side once it’s golden brown I flip it over and let it cook for another 3 to 4 minutes once both sides are golden brown remove it from the Heat and place it onto a Plate then just continue the process before the next batch I do like to add a little bit more butter to my pan only about like a half teaspoon to a teaspoon this time and then I just spread it out evenly then continue the process of Dipping the toast on both sides
Briefly letting the excess mixture run off and then I place it into my pan to cook on medium low heat for each batch I’m only doing about two to three pieces so that I don’t crowd My Pan
You just want to make sure you have room to flip them over if you want to get this done faster you could cook them on a griddle instead of a pan you’ll see that the first couple slices of French toast take up most of the cinnamon that’s in your mixture so
If you want you can add a little bit of extra just sprinkle it lightly right on top of your French toast once it’s golden on the first side flip it and cook the second side remove it and place on the plate and just continue this process until you have
Used up all your bread now you’re ready to serve your French toast I put my French toast on my plate and then add a little bit of butter and if you want to make it fancy you can sprinkle on a little bit of powdered
[Music] sugar then I like to serve it with a lot of syrup this French toast is easy to make it’s not soggy it has a nice crunch to the edges but it’s very soft in the middle if
