I love Aon me but Vietnamese food is not so readily available to me that I can just have one on a whim but when my cooworker was talking up this recipe the other day when he contributed to a cookbook we put together for a company

Retreat I knew I needed to try it as soon as possible so today we’re diving into the vibrant world of Vietnamese cuisine with a Twist a homemade pork meatball Bon Me first let’s whip up our spicy Sriracha mayo simply mix together mayonnaise I’m using cupy Mayo here some chopped green onions and sriracha sauce add a pinch of salt if you’d like mix it well and let it all chill if you’re preparing it ahead for that authentic bonme crunch let’s

Pickle some carrots and daon well my grocery was out of daon so I substituted hikma which has a very similar taste and texture I shredded both of them using the largest holes on the box grater mix them with rice vinegar sugar and a Sprinkle of salt I uh didn’t have rice

Vinegar either but I did have some mostly empty bottles of rice cooking wine and white wine vinegar to approximate the flavor flavor let those sit stir them occasionally to get that perfect Tangy sweetness now the star of the show the meatballs combine ground pork sugar corn starch salt and pepper minced garlic I

Use the chunky tube garlic some fish sauce and Sriracha chop up some green onions and basil and add those to mix gently then roll them into 1in balls Heat some oil in a skillet sesame oil will add another layer of flavor if you have it and brown the meatballs in batches they should be fully cooked and crispy on the outside take about 15 minutes keep the cooked meatballs warm in the oven while you prepare the

Rest before we assemble the sandwiches we’ll need to pick out some nice stems of cilantro and slice up a few jalapenos then it’s time for the baguettes I had them in the oven with the warm meatballs for a few minutes and that really crisped up the crust slice them

Horizontally and scoop out a bit of the bread to make room for all the fillings now we put everything together spread a generous amount of our spicy mayo on each baguette and then layer on the jalapenos and the cilantro add a good helping of the meatball on top

Those I then found it easier to switch to the other half of the baguette for a generous amount of the Pickled veggies and then just put the two halves together press down slightly on top the sandwich to secure Everything and there you have it your very own pork meatball bonme packed with flavors and textures it’s incredible every bite is a blend of spicy and savory and crunchy it’s just what I was craving when he was describing the recipe to me well thanks for joining me today please like comment share and

  1. At my house we make bánh mì sandwiches all the time, but we usually use thin cut beef in a soy sauce based marinade, and layer on cucumbers for a refreshing crisp bite.
We've never made them with pork meatballs but now I think we're gonna have to try it that way. Looks delicious!
