Though it’s located on the west coast, Langer’s Delicatessen has put pastrami on the LA map. Norm Langer, the owner of Langer’s Deli, inherited the restaurant from his parents. The restaurant is best known for its “World Famous #19” pastrami sandwich on rye.

The Best Pastrami Sandwich Isn’t In New York – It’s In LA | Legendary Eats

  1. This place is good, however Katz is a little better and Langer’s at 2700 reviews 4.6 stars vs Katz at 28,000 reviews 4.5 stars. Nice try Food Insider.

  2. The sandwich shown on the cover of the video is pee-wee compared to the Incredible Hulk sandwiches of NYC!!
They said that about cheese in California, compared to Wisconsin, in my opinion “Not!!”!! Yes, I’m from Wisconsin!!

  3. LA always gets a bad wrap but it's a very underrated food city. It's just so vast you got to know where to go. Also, a very underrated museum town. All the Hollywood hoopla masks what the city really has to offer. It's an extremely versatile city.

  4. The best of anything is subjective. I have traveled all over the states and managed to try out so many of these restaurants. What you personally think is amazing food may just be mediocre to me. We all have our individual palettes and preferences.

  5. I was in LA and decided to drive here to try the pastrami. Unfortunately there were tweakers, trash, homeless all around the neighborhood, didn’t even bother going in.

  6. My restaurant uses the same provider that supplies the pastrami to this restaurant so it’s AMAZING

We have a pastrami on the menu and it’s BY FAR, the best item on the menu.

  7. Could not agree more. Langers is by far the best pastrami in the U.S. still remember my first visit 20+ years ago. I need to visit again…. Fortunately still living in LA.

  8. Nobody said anything about them not wearing gloves i wish like hell I'd eat a sandwich from their restaurant i dont give a damn how good it is… wear gloves!!!!!

  9. While I used to give it to the old Carnegie Deli, Langer’s is simply great. The bread at Langer’s takes it to another level.

  10. Is this place even safe to go to? Should I park in their lot a block away, or park on Alverado, or take the subway to that junkie station?
Why did Langer's never move out of there over the last 60 years?

  11. I lived in near Langers in the sixties. They had another location about a block away on Alvarado before they built this one. They had a sign 'when in doubt east pastrami'. I have been to the new location more than a hundred times. Usually pastrami sometimes lox and eggs for breakfast. In the summer strawberry shortcake was fantastic. My cardiologist tells me no more pastrami. Being old is inconvenient.

  12. Ehhhh, been to Langers had the Pastrami, and think THE HAT double dipped with a side of gravy is better. I prefer thin cut Pastrami.

  13. i've been to Langer's and Katz's. both are great. but i'd give a very slight edge to Langer's.

  14. Langer’s is stratospheres above Katz’s deli. Better meat, better bread and Katz’s lacks the cool ingredients like the exact cheese and Cole slaw.
