In today’s video I’m gonna show you how you can start your own Italian water ice business from scratch so stay tuned Welcome back to mobile food booth Carla’s here again bringing you another video helping you to build a successful mobile food business okay starting a store can be really expensive so we’re not going to talk about that today we’re going to talk about keeping this thing mobile if you’re strapped for cash and

You’re on a super low budget check out my video here on how to start a water-ice business for less than $300 first way to get started is with a water ice cart now you can find these carts brand new from anywhere from $1,200 all the way up to $4,000 it’s according to

How many tubs they hold what the specs they have so you have to do your own research on that but you know me I wouldn’t buy a new cart I would buy a used cart you can find used carts online on eBay for 800 to a thousand dollars

Easy ok now that you have your cart you’re gonna need a wholesale order I supplier if you live in the northeastern part of the United States Philadelphia New York New Jersey that’ll be easy if not you’re gonna have to do a little more research to find a wholesale with

Our supplier there are others throughout the country ok now you’re gonna want to head the Sam’s Club or your local restaurant supply store get you some cups some spoons and some napkins blue scoops are a little bit too small and the red scoops are too big so get the yellow scoops

They’re perfect for scooping Italian water ice okay now it’s time to find an event so we can start making some money you might want to start off small because your hands gonna be hurt from all that scooping and all that money you’re gonna be raking in all day long

If you have a cold plate pushcart you don’t have to worry about this but if you have a pushcart that plugs in gonna need electricity so you got to find out if that event carries electricity if not you’re gonna have to find you a generator preferably a quiet generator

So you don’t disturb your neighbors but make sure that it has enough wattage to be able to run your freezer so you have a cart that keeps the ice at the right serving temperature ice cream is held and scooped at a lower temperature than water ice usually beats under 10 degrees

Fahrenheit water ice is held at a higher temperature I use to keep mine around between 25 and 30 degrees which has that perfect soft scooping temperature okay you’re ready to step your game up and buy you your first water ice fan it’s really not that complicated all you do is go on eBay

Craigslist if you want to buy a new van that’s up to you but I would get one used it runs good at least someone had it as using it as an ice cream truck and I would just convert it into Italian water ice truck van here was converted

From an old handicap van and we just created it into a water ice truck anything you have to do is make sure your signage and your decals are really really nice on your truck you want people to know that you’re serving Italian water ice and not ice cream now

Once you get your decals and everything on your van you got to make sure you have a serving window and a light in case you’re serving at night time once you move to the inside you got to make sure you have a dipping cabinet and make sure you keep your dipping cabinet close

To your serving window so you’re not walking all over the place moving around get you some shelving in there that way you can sell some candy some ice some candy some chips and some other items to boost your bottom line now what we do we keep it extra storage freezer in the

Back with that that can hold up to 50 tubs that way if we’re at a big event we don’t have to keep running back home or going up to try to get up and get some more supplies you always want to make sure if you’re at a big event

You got enough ice to last you throughout that event at least if you do run out you’re so happy you really don’t care I need an install inverter on your truck that way your freezers can run consistently that way if the ice starts to get soft you just turn the truck on

An inverter with power the freezers if not you’re gonna need a generator and put the generator on it back but I would recommend an inverter it’s not loud it’s not you don’t have to deal with the exhaust so get your inverter it’s not that expensive just take it to your

Local marine supplier and they’ll put the inverter up for you hey I hope you enjoyed the video on how to start your own Italian what are ice business from scratch I’ve done it from scratch you can do it if you want to get started this year go out and get started make

Your business plan go out there and get this money guys I hope you enjoyed the video until next time you

  1. Hello 👋🏽 & thanks for all your videos. Have you gotten water ice from Restaurants Depot! If so how was it?

  2. While I love your videos on Italian ice, you never stray from suppliers for product. Which I just don't understand. It's great at first. Just wondering why more people aren't saving to buy a used machine and up their game. Making a quality product for 2-5 cents an ounce. Much higher profit.

  3. This might sounds weird to some ppl. I just want to know the real way of making this water ice. Is it made out of base or fruits ? Seriously what is the right way ?

  4. Crazy! An Italian ice cart has been on my vision board for 10 years. It’s too easy to start for me to be so afraid. I appreciate your videos and the comments so much!

  5. these videos are great I’m here in nyc Staten Island and I have the perfect spot to set up I’ll be doing the cost effective way in the beginning … may have to drive to Philly they have a spot called Andy’s here so I’ll weigh my options but leaning towards that Philly drive

  6. Hey that a nice video, I currently am an ice cream man with my own truck and two tricycle carts and I’ve been thinking about switching to Italian ice, I had a few questions I’d love to ask you if you’re available?
