In this easy cooking video, I cook some brats, or bratwurst sausage, in my crockpot, or slow cooker. I simply wiped the bottom of the crock pot with some cooking oil, and then cooked the sausage on high for 3 1/2 hours, until it was browned on the outside.

Hey guys today i’m going to cook some bratwurst sausage in the slow cooker so let’s get cracking i have a package of johnsonville bratz or bratwurst sausage here these are 5.99 i think and it’s a 19 ounce package now i did this the other day

I cooked them in a dry slow cooker and they turned out good but they did stick to the bottom of the slow cooker a little bit so i’m just going to pour a little bit of oil in there and kind of wipe that around with a

Paper towel just to cover the bottom of my slow cooker there so hopefully that will uh prevent them from sticking as bad so now i’m just gonna take these and there’s five of them in here so i’m just gonna lay them right in the bottom of the slow cooker

Now we’ll get the lid on there and i’m going to cook these on high i’ll let you guys know how long it takes it’s been three and a half hours so let’s see how these are doing they look pretty good to me looks like they’re browning up pretty nicely

Look at that look at the bottom see how the bottom of this one looks oh yeah this look pretty good let’s get one out and try it out that browned up pretty nicely in the crock pot who would have thought i’m just going to put a little mustard

On there i haven’t been eating much bread lately so i’m going to eat this with some vegetables so anyway let’s cut into a piece here and see how it came out looks good turned out pretty good i guess we better see what andrew thinks you want to try it what do you think

I guess she approved of that so that was three and a half hours on high it takes about that long for them to get brown on the outside at first they just look kind of gray and not very appetizing i haven’t tried it on low set i’m not

Sure if they brown up very well and low or not anyway i write everything in the description thanks for watching see you guys next time You

  1. Tostim I have a toaster oven can I do scrambled eggs in my toaster oven and what size of a pan do I need to use I'm a truck driver I have fridge and freezer and another fridge in my truck I'm savin on money by cooking than eating out

  2. Not counting the 99cent hotdog packs or whatever, Bratwurst doesn't cost much more than good hotdogs. I always have some bratwurst in my freezer, because like you said, you don't have to have bread. Usually, with buns, but not necessary. Johnsonville is top notch, but if you have an Aldi, try their brats. This weekend, I am roasting pumpkin seeds.

  3. Interesting method. Is there an advantage to doing them in the slow cooker vs just a pan or grill or even [GASP] boiling them? Did you find them to be moister or more flavorful? Would actually be quite interested in seeing a comparison / taste test!

  4. Those look awesome! I've been baking my hot dogs in the toaster oven lately and they come out great. I bet the brats would as well. =)

  5. Another Annie aproved recipe!
Could hear her sending you a morse code message….S..O..S… Send Over Sausage!! Thanks jim and best of health to all

  6. Another one!! I really look forward to Sunday’s and your post. So realistic, at least to me. Thank you for being on here.

  7. I wonder if you could have added the sweet potato to the pot and cooked it for the same amount of time…a one-pot meal?

  8. Mmmm. I might try that with some onions and red pepper! Looks good! Good to see you getting the veggies in! 😁

  9. You've lost a lot of weight over the last five years. Watched something from you (Tim) from 2015 and there's a noticeable difference. Congrats.

  10. …Those look great Jim…Having been born and raised in Wisconsin, I grew up eating bratwurst sausages from many sausage makers in the state. Johnsonville is among the best…You did those sausages proud my friend…

  11. They look good! 3 hours is a long time for brats. However, if you want them ready when you get home it is a nice idea. Thanks Jim great video.

  12. Brats, autumn weather and football πŸ˜‰! Great combination 🌭πŸ₯¬πŸ…πŸ₯•πŸ₯¦. Have a good Sunday 🏈

  15. I like how you almost always say how much the meat cost you. Something that most people don't include in their video's and I think it's pretty important. Also I like the little review at the end of your video's on how long you cook things. Sticks in my memory better. You've given me so many ideas for simple meals to cook for my wife and I. I can't thank you enough! Keep it up! And of course, I really look forward to Annie's taste test at the end of the video. Cracks me up.
