With the largest Cuban American populations in the country, it’s no surprise the Cuban sandwich reigns supreme in South Florida. The ham, cheese, and roast pork combo is not to be missed during a visit to the Sunshine State. Sanguich de Miami makes the legendary Cuban sandwich almost entirely in-house, which isn’t the case at every Cuban restaurant. From the seven days its cooks spend brining ham, to the pickles they make in-house, to the Cuban bread specially made by a local bakery, every ingredient in this sandwich is intentionally prepared and cared for.

The Cuban Sandwich That Reigns Supreme in Miami | Legendary Eats

  1. It looks really good until you try it and be like "wow, that's it?" Empanadas taste better lol.

  2. Weird food fact: The cuban sandwich is not from cuba. Its from Florida. Specifically Tampa and the panhandle. Made by cuban people before the revolution. It eventually migrated back to cuba itself and transformed into the sandwich we know today after a huge cuban influx of immigrants during the 1980 Mariel boat lift from cuba to florida.

Also, the original version has pepperoni in it. But since that is expensive in cuba, its not seen as traditional. But it is.

  3. The only true thing I miss from Florida. I lived there 14 yrs and that sandwich is like a good warm hug. 🙏🏼🙏🏼👑❤️❤️

  4. I'm nowhere close to Florida and I don't think i've ever had a 100% authentic cubano in my life, but even a cubano that's not quite correct is still a damn fine sandwich.

  5. In Miami? I live in Newark, NJ. We have enjoyed waves of imagration from Europe. South and Central America and Cuba. Anna's was established in the North Ward in the 1990's. The children of Anna grew up, went to college and got successful. Anna retired and sold the bussiness to immagrants from Ecuador. They kept and reproduce (continued to produce) the same food. Those owners repeated the line and sold to people from DR. The food is still great. The food is inexpensive and delicious. Their children will grow up, go to college and be successful and, who knows? Are Peruvians the next immagrants to make Wonderfull Cuban Sandwiches?

  6. The Cuban Sandwich was actually invented in Tampa's Ybor City in the late 1800s. It was exported to Cuba, and then when Cuban refugees started settling Miami in large numbers in the mid 20th Century, they brought the sandwich with them, but missing a key ingredient, the Genoa Salami. Plus that weak ass bread they make in Miami isn't proper Cuban bread either. For starters, there's no palm frond to split it as rises. Lame.

  7. I had a cubano in a place called CAFECITO in Central Chicago. i miss it everyday

  8. “… for us, we find that it tends to be one of the most tender parts of the pork.”
lmao- compared to what, the hock?! Sure, if you tenderize it with 24hr marinade it’s tender.

  9. I’m from south Florida and now live in North Carolina where they make this abomination with smoked pulled pork and try to call it a Cuban. It absofreakingloutely is not and DO NOT call it that!! it’s a bait and switch, it makes me mad 😡 and is, at its core, WRONG. IM LOOKING AT YOU CHARLOTTE. Make the sandwich, (it’s not bad)sell the sandwich, but name it SOMETHING ELSE. Man o man now I want a Cuban sandwich!! 🤤

  10. Cant stand when someone you are PAYING for a service, refuses to give you what you are paying for.

Who is she to say she won't put Mayo on the sandwich. She's making sandwiches not F'IN masterpieces.

  11. Funny thing about The Cuban Sandwich is there’s nothing Cuban about it. It was a genius marketing move by a white man from Miami. He sold the heck out of them to the Cuban immigrants by calling them a Cuban Sandwich.

  12. I love how they always cut to some oddball who's so happy to be on camera he/she will just say a bunch of super flattering shit about random stuff like sandwiches or pasta or soup LOL. They use this tactic to show "the people" love it but its almost always either an aspiring actor or someone who doesn't get any attention from anyone in their life and is excited for this opportunity.
