Wanted to get into making salsas & using a molcajete for a long time now and finally took the leap this weekend. Seasoning the molcajete was a bit of a task but totally worth it based on how this first salsa turned out.

Thanks to u/plasma_pirate for the recipe recommendation! (PFM). Next time I think I’ll leave the seeds in the jalapeños to add a bit of spice. Used 6 tomatillos, 2 poblanos, 3 serranos, 3/4 of a white onion, 2 cloves of garlic and a handful of cilantro. Roasted all of the veggies on a pan with some salt & olive oil for 20 mins at 450. While waiting, I basically pulverized the cilantro in the molcajete, then threw everything straight from the oven into the molcajete. Mashed away until it got to the texture I wanted and voila – delicious homemade salsa verde. Unreal flavour and just the right amount of tanginess, texture was great too.
