  1. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I use Fage’s lactose free for EVERYTHING. so versatile

  2. The Fage 5% is my favorite too. It's so good that I can eat it plain without anything added for sweetness. I didn't think that was possible.

  3. This is great! I make a lot of recipes with buttermilk, but never together.

So I buy buttermilk to use 1/2 cup at a time & end up tossing the rest. But at least the remaining Greek yogurt will get eaten in my household. Thanks!

  4. Or buy plain yogurt and strain it to make Greek yogurt, and then bake bread with the leftover whey!

  5. 😮 I have never thought to use yogurt to substitute buttermilk. Greek yogurt is always a staple in our fridge. We use it instead of sour cream. And to some extent to replace heavy cream in creamy sauce recipes. We like the slight acidity as well. Delicious!

  6. This is good knowledge to have, perhaps for some people, but in my kitchen, it is not a burden to have different fermented dairy products on hand for various baking projects. Even if having Greek yogurt on hand, exclusively, performs basically the same in terms of leavening and rising power, the fact is that you can't substitute the flavor of things like buttermilk with just one of these products. And they never last long enough to go bad anyway, so why not
