Simple Stuffed Shells

25 uncooked jumbo pasta shells
1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
1 carton (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend, divided
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
1 jar (26 ounces) spaghetti sauce, divided

Cook pasta shells according to directions on the package until it is al dente; drain and rinse in cold water. In a large skillet, cook meat of choice until meat is no longer pink; drain the meat.

In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1-1/2 cups Italian cheese blend, Parmesan cheese, egg and half of the beef mixture.
Next spread 3/4 cup spaghetti sauce into a greased 13×9-in. baking dish. Stuff the cheese mixture into pasta shells; add as little or as much mixture as you like then place in baking dish with the stuffed shells touching but not overlapping.
Combine remaining meat mixture and spaghetti sauce; pour over shells and cover entire top of shells. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and add Parmesan cheese too if you would like.

Preheat oven to 350°. Cover and bake for 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, uncover and bake for about 15 more minutes or until the cheese is melted.

You can also make this dish in advance and cook it later. If you decide to do this just remove the stuffed shells from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.

This stuffed shells pasta recipe is a great meal to make ahead for busy weeknights or to take to a friend.

  1. I'm definitely gonna try this. I have no idea of ground turkey meat is something they sell in Australia, never bought or heard of it before. Thank you for the recipe🙏
