Pic stole from google. Hope this is something that belongs in this sub.
So most bbq comes a side of baked beans. Once had a girl from KY come to a party and brought homemade beans- aint had any that good to this day. I cant seem to find a decent homemade recipe to make my own. Online- anyone got a recipe/link to share for makin baked beans? from scratch not a canned beans recipe with your own additions.

There was a recipe on a smoking website some years ago called Cary’s baked beans or Kary’s or something similar, it was the poster’s name. The pic looks similar to how the recipe looked. It had brown sugar and apples from what I recall.
Might be just as easy to type in baked beans and see which recipe sounds good to your taste.
This is an excellent recipe.
Have used it several times.
Camp Chef Smoked Baked Beans

Ingredients:
• 6-8 strips of bacon cut into 1/2 inch squares
• 1/2 medium onion, diced
• 1/2 bell pepper, diced
• 1 – 2 jalapeno peppers, diced (seeding is optional)
• 55 ounce can baked beans
• 8 ounce can of pineapple chunks, drained
• 1 cup brown sugar, packed
• 1/2 – 1 tbs. dry (ground) mustard
Directions:
Sauté bacon pieces in fry pan until crispy and remove from pan with a slotted spoon. Sauté onion, bell pepper and jalapeno pepper until tender.
In a large mixing bowl combine beans, pineapple, brown sugar, bbq sauce and dry mustard. Stir in bacon pieces and vegetables. Pour into Dutch oven. (While mixing if things look dry, add additional bbq sauce 1/4 -1/2 cup at a time)
Place in a 220-250° smoker for 2 1/2 to 3 hours (make sure temperature of the baked beans reaches 160°).
Note: Recipe can be cooked in a 12×9 or 9×9 baking pan in an oven at 350°F for 1 hour.
Best I’ve ever seen was a copy cat recipe from Aaron Franklin.
One onion chopped
3 garlic clove chopped
One green pepper chopped
One poblano chopped
2 jalapeños chopped
3. TB of Worcestershire
3 TB dejon mustard
1 cup Brown Sugar
3 oz franks red hot
1 1/2 cup favorite bbq sauce
Can of black beans
Can of kidney beans
Can of pinto beans
2 cans of baked beans
Salt/pepper to taste
Half pound of bacon precooked and chopped
Maple bourbon peach beans.
The trick is to smoke a tri tip/chuck roast/brisket and use that for added smoke
Hoppin’ John is the superior bean dish. I don’t care what anyone else says.
