  1. I feel very lucky to have had this opportunity and that too with good company.

2011 isn’t the best vintage, but Biondi-Santi executes well regardless, or so I hear. Brunello di Montalcino is my favorite wine, but I had never tried Biondi-Santi until last night.

Both still young and need more time to open up.

    2011 Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino

Notes of dark cherry, plum, olive, and blueberry.

Needed time to open up, still lots of tannins, but mellowed out over time.

    Long finish, beautiful nose.

    93 points.

Decanted for more than a hour.

    Absolutely incredible. Nice color.

    Notes of cherry blossom.

    Long finish, still very tannic.

I think this will be amazing in five years.

    94 points.

If I ever buy these wines, I’ll decant for a few hours next time.

Also as a bonus, I had 2007 Château Haut-Bailly after. No detailed notes there, but 92 points.

Ugh I’m so jealous. One of my favorite producers (that I absolutely cannot afford unless it’s on the restaurant’s dime) and one of my favorite regions.

Any food or just enjoyed the juice?

  3. That is a spectacular wine!!! Glad to hear you enjoyed
