    1999 Château Lafite Rothschild
    Decanted for 1 hr
Nose of plums and tobacco, with hints of leather and graphite
Medium-bodied, with a core of cassis and graphite
    Resolved tannins
    Silky long finish
Honestly, I expected a lot more from a Lafite, but it’s probably due to ’99 not being an excellent vintage

Damn, I feel old and poor at the same time. I hope the wine was enjoyed with some good people!

No fair, that’s my wedding year wine.

Mine was 1965 which was a TERRIBLE vintage pretty much everywhere in France. I did a 1965 Barbero Barolo at the recommendation of a Somm friend. Turn to vinegar soon after opening, should never have decanted it. Enjoyed the first few sips, then meh. C’est la vie.

Kinda of a cool bottling. There was an eclipse that year, i believe around harvest. That’s what is signified on the bottle above the label.

Next April 1 I’m posting a 2014 “birth year wine.”

Nice. 1988 is mine and I’ve been on the hunt for a bottle for a few months now, I was on two auctions online so far and there’s another next month I’m going to check out. The last auction had a 1921 Chateau Pavie I wanted so bad but it went out of my price range lol.
