Beautiful pale ruby in colour. The nose was divine – red fruit forward with plenty of floral influence in there. Light bodied, complex with a healthy helping of acidity in there. Uniquely German, but with nods to Burgundian style Pinot noir. Paired with pork belly. Good times.

I got a bottle from the same producer. It’s a different cuvée and the wine shop lady said it’s better to wait so I probably won’t be opening it soon. I’m not very experienced with German Pinot but what makes German Pinot uniquely German for you?

I like the spätburgunders that I’ve tried. I just haven’t tried enough of them.
