Daryl shows me how to make Matzo Brei, a dish eaten during Passover. It is made with unleavened Matzo bread and eggs and served with honey, typically, but can be served savory as well.
Daryl also shared a little bit about the story of Passover and her family’s traditions.

Matzo Brei Recipe
*2 eggs
*1 Matzo
*water for soaking
*a little oil
For every Matzo cracker, use 2 eggs. First, wet the Matzo under running water. Then, crack the matzo up and mix into eggs in a small bowl. Heat a little oil in a nonstick pan and scramble the eggs and matzo just like you would scramble eggs, for a couple minutes. Serve warm with a little drizzle of honey or cooked onions for a savory version.

chef Johanna today I’m with my friend
darryl and she is going to teach me how
to make matzo brei so you’re just
scrambling the eggs I’m a way that my
family makes it and it’s like basically
matzah inside of scrambled egg mix in
half the eggs

it’s just water it just eggs in there
yeah so I just have two eggs and then I
put the matzo in a bowl of water to make
it a little bit softer it’s like a
crackers that’s hard and then I just
crumble it up and it’s kind of like
scrambled eggs

so when you just put a little oil in the
pan
yeah I’m just doing a test right now to
make sure that was actually kind of like
and when do you eat the breakfast so
during Passover we can’t have anything
that Rises and so we eat the matzah and
you have to get kind of crafty crushed
up cracker inside of scrambled eggs
yeah yeah yeah the story of Passover is
the Jews were escaping the Pharaoh to
cut their bread and the bread is on
their backs and it cooked
so Passover ends and then what do you
eat the day but actually I learned
recently that I have a special
celebration called Mona and it’s like
this whole like feast that they have and
then they eat this kind of thing called
which kind of looks like for the the day
after Passover yeah for the night so the
holiday and technically you can eat
bread again but the problem is that when
you prepare for Passover you have to
clean out everything so it’s Carla from
that
and I don’t do that so normally they
won’t have any red I know in their
kitchens I’m so that’s why usually they
do it the next day
so you drinks I don’t wanna know like
because Christmas all right the wine
because the body of Christ anymore
what once more so United to shoot up
with Jews it was like to the hearts of
like the past version
like fun because as you oscillate goes
wrong like no ladies but then usually
they’re like perhaps so like yeah
