Château Guiraud 2003! What an amazing wine! It was actually my first time tasting Sauternes and this was a bottle my mom brought back after visiting that Château.
Paired with Gnocchi alla Gorgonzola, it worked wonders with the strenght and richness from the meal.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Apple juice, honey, dried sultanas, delightful freshness with orange citruses and bergamot
Taste:
Alltogether less fresh than the nose: Passionfruit, brioche, mandarines in syrup and burnt sugar with a slight but pleasant bitterness in aftertaste
Acidity balances the sugar, leaving just a marvelous balance on the palate
Rather long finish

Sounds absolutely yum. What a great idea for pairing too.
