Every Saturday is homemade pizza night and a horror movie in my theater, it’s my favorite night of the week 🙂

Friday and/or Saturday were traditionally pizza night when I was growing up. Pizza was usually served at a party, or ordered on a night out with my buddy’s, or on a date, or a family meal out.
When I had kids, the family part of that tradition continued. I grew up in Miami Florida. In the 70s and 80s Miami was home to phenomenal NY style shops like Master on south beach, Steve’s in north Miami, and countless other spots. The late 90s saw a neighborhood spot called Mario The Baker expand into West Miami, where we lived. It gave me a chance to introduce my kids to great, traditional pizza.
In the 2000s we moved to Chicago, for the weather, I tell people. And when it comes great pizza spots, you can’t beat Chicago and her tavern pie, delivered piping hot; cut into squares. Fridays and Saturdays were pizza night then, too

Growing up it was Friday, which made it special. As an adult it’s whenever it sounds good. My son was born 3 weeks ago and I think once he’s on solid food we’ll go back to Fridays so it’s special for him.
