healing lemon chicken soup oo man that’s
delicious a little bit of avocado oil
salt and black pepper and then once the
oil is hot we’re going to add our
chicken after about 2 minutes we’re
going to go ahead and give the chicken a
flip then we’re going to place this in
the oven to finish cooking now in a 6q
pot we’re going to add a little bit of
olive oil we’re going to add our onion
season the onion with a little bit of
salt to draw out some of the moisture
and then a little bit of black pepper
after about 7 minutes once the onions
start to turn translucent we’re going to
add some celery diced carrots diced
potatoes season with a little bit more
salt and black pepper once the
vegetables just begin to soften we’re
going to add some minced garlic some
dried dill the zest of two lemons a
bunch of fresh thyme and a few bay
leaves let that all fry for about a
minute or until you begin to smell that
garlic then we’re going to add the juice
of two lemons and about 8 cups of
chicken stock now we’re going to bring
this to a gentle simmer and let cook for
about 30 minutes or until the potatoes
are soft now we’re going to add in our
chicken and then some orzo pasta now
we’re going to let this continue to boil
for about 10 minutes or until the pasta
is done now you’re going to turn off the
heat taste it and adjust the seasoning
to your liking then we’re going to
finish with a little bit of parsley the

  1. I wasn’t sure at first, because I have made A LOT of soups, especially chicken, and no one did lemon chicken quite like my Grandmother, but I loved when you added the dill, lemon zest, and orzo. I’ll try it if you make one with potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, Italian short grain rice, lemon and lemon zest, but leave out the dill and thyme and add a semi-heaping tablespoon of Lebanese 7 spice and a whole jalapeño tossed in, not sliced or chopped. Just put a slit through it and leave it in there like a tea bag 😂 Let the spices warm through a bit before adding the stock. Chicken thighs and maggi chicken bouillon. Make sure you let it set a little after you turn the heat off so the rice makes it thick and glossy. Add a tablespoon of butter after you turn the heat off.

  2. I made this and it was terrible. I was out of lemons so I used 1 orange and half a grapefruit (same thing). Also I substituted the dill weed for 1/2 cup dill pickle juice. I cooked the chicken exactly the same as you except I just cooked it in my crockpot and added all the other stuff in after the chicken cooked to an internal temperature of 350, so same as your oven just without all the electricity. I did eat it, I just puréed it and added cream cheese and buffalo wing sauce which, btw, would be my recommendation to add to this recipe. Keep trying though.

  5. I make my soup the same way, but the only difference is I cook the chicken fully in the pot, and use bacon fat.
