A coworker has requested a sheet cake and a smash cake for her 2-year-old granddaughter. She showed me a video of her first birthday cake, which was mostly covered in dark green frosting. So in turn was her kitchen. She wants to avoid having a glut of deep colors that will stain her furnishings and the child, but obviously still fun. She has given me free rein on the color, theme, and flavor otherwise.

Which of these do you feel will translate best into a matched set of sheet cake for party goers and smash cake for the kid? I personally like the ones with more colors, but am intrigued by the pattern of the ombre one (but am unsure if it will do well in multiple colors without being too saturated).

I kinda dig the polka dots. It’s cute and colorful and easy to do on both a smash and sheet cake

    I like the first one

One of my kids had a polka dot cake for his 2 year old birthday and it was a huge hit, he Loved it. I did small fondant circles for the dots. He peeled them all off and ate them, the requested “more dots!” (It was marshmallow fondant so it tasted good). So funny.

If you did # 3 you could do a matching “Pom Pom” border on top with sprinkles on the bottom.
