I have had asparagus for 10 years this year. I recommend picking them before they branch out as they get stringy. If you leave them be they turn into giant ferns. They are a great plant that comes back every year.
I put my cut asparagus in the fridge in a glass with water until I have enough to make something delicious.

Yea cut and fridge them by the time they’re about a foot tall, I will admit I eat a lot before they make it in the house
