  1. A few weeks prior to visiting London, a Saturday lunch booking opened up at Core and we were thrilled to get it. Lunch at Core was easily our favorite meal of the trip—from the brilliant service with attention to the extremely small details to the pacing and flavors of the food, it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. The dining room is beautiful, and overall, each plate was gorgeous—every plate that came out was beautiful. (More information and thoughts on each dish is at the photo-level.)

We both chose the Seasons menu at £245 per person, along with two glasses of Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve, a bottle of 2020 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly (absolutely wonderful) and two glasses of sweet wine at the end: a 2011 Château Suduiraut Sauternes and a Giraud Ratafia Champenois Solera 1990-2019—what a treat!

The entire experience at Core was refreshing and it sets a high mark for me. It was an honor to meet Chef Smyth at the end of our lunch and talk about some other dining we had planned in London that trip. I can’t wait to go back someday, hopefully sooner than later.
