What kind of mulch would you throw in here to keep the weeds down?
If any?

Having a raised bed keeps the weeds down enough imo. I personally wouldn’t because slugs would appear in my area. If that’s not an issue, then it could help prevent the soil from drying as quickly.

Probably nothing. Then in the fall when you’re done, cardboard covered in fine bark, the when ready to plant again, an inch of compost. Lasagna beds, no till, really keeps the weeds in check.
The worst weeds I have is anywhere I disturb the soil too much and bring the weed seeds to the top.

I like those corner block thingy’s where do those come from?

Just diligence and picking the couple of weeds that pop up whenever you’re out there.
If you must have mulch, maybe some garden straw around your plants.

Cedar mulch.

EB Stone’s Big Harvest
It builds you the soil, looks beautiful, and has 15% chicken manure.

I’ve been thinking about this the last week. Is it safe to put colored mulch down? I have a bag of red left over from my yard work but I was thinking bleed off might not be good.

Straw has been great for us.

Just “weed” now when there are no visible weeds. If you simply run a hoe through the open soil once a week you will always kill thread stage weeds before they even start being a problem.
Edit: straw would be my choice for mulch btw

I’ve had good luck with EZ Straw. Found at most big box stores.

Your city likely has free mulch. Anything that isn’t dyed or treated should be ok.

If you don’t have access to straw, grass clippings work just fine.
Mow the lawn, mulch the bed.

What did you plant!

Remember what most people aren’t mentioning here…mulch is beneficial for your soil…even if you don’t have weeds or weed your bed…you should have some type of mulch. My go to is woodchips.

I’ve had good luck with straw as a mulch which also reduces the watering frequency. Only downside is it seems to have some grass seeds here and there despite being specific for gardens

That’s tiny. Just pick the weeds.
I am partial to wheat straw or pinestraw. I like how it dries but keeps the soil moist.
I like to use lawn clippings. Either dry it out, then apply or apply thin layers that will dry without becoming matted.
