I recently started volunteering for an amazing non-profit called Cake4Kids. This was the first request I was able to fulfill!

Chocolate cake with caramel buttercream and salted caramel filling made for the birthday of a little girl I’ll never meet!

I am definitely not a professional but baking is my love language and it fills me with such profound joy to be able to provide a cake for young person who deserves to feel so special.

This was my first doll cake and I’m really pleased with how it turned out with the exception of the writing. I had other plans but had to pivot at the last minute to the buttercream and it just looks much sloppier than I hoped it would and I’m feeling a bit embarrassed about it, to be honest.

Also a funny surprise was that Belle was too tall for the “tall” cake box I got. So she got a little Saran Wrap window to peer out of. Makes me chuckle every time I open the fridge.

I welcome any feedback!

What a cool organization! I’m sure they’ll be over joyed with their cake all the same!

Thank you for posting this! I forgot about this organization. This is perfect for soon to be empty nesters like me. I’ve done cakes for profit but stopped a while back. Used to make them for my family/friends too. Thank you for the inspiration to get back to it as a hobby/.

The writing is fine. I think piping lettering is harder when it’s vertical anyway but we can always have fun practicing. Good job. As you said, the real reward is in knowing you made someone feel important & special in a world that can be so cold. You’re a good egg.
