They are equally welcome a big Thanksgiving or Easter dinner as they are at a 4th of July cookout or game day tailgate party. Deviled eggs are very easy to make and almost impossible to mess up. Next time you are asked to bring a dish, bring Deviled Eggs.

hiy folks and welcome to the hillbilly kitchen today we’re making deviled eggs now deviled eggs are a classic side dish for any holiday everything from Easter to Thanksgiving even the 4th of July if you’re cooking out if you’re having a big potluck get together or a big dinner holiday dinner they go with anything so how we’re going to start is we’re going to put half a dozen eggs in a pot of water make sure your eggs are completely covered with water then to make a easy to peel we’re going to add just a splash of vinegar to it you don’t need a whole lot teaspoon or so and we’re going to turn these on and we’re going to let them cook on medium you know just don’t let them boil over make sure they stay boiling but once they come to a boil you’re going to cook them at least 10 minutes now if you cook them a little bit longer it ain’t the end of the world don’t let people like freak you out and say oh my gosh these eggs are going to be cooked to death cuz they’ll be fine even if they cook more than 10 minutes but once they have boiled 10 minutes here’s another trick to make them easy to peel while they’re still in that hot bowl and water crack them all and what that’s going to do is it’s going to get that hot bowl and water in the shell and it will help separate the membrane from the egg so you can peel them but when you do that you’ll see little bitty bubbles coming out of your eggshell and that’s that bowling water going into your eggshell and it like I said separates it from the egg makes it much easier to peel all right now once they’ve been boiling for 10 minutes and these have oops we can turn this stove ey off and we’re going to drain them and cover them with cold water now you want to peel them while the egg is still hot you want to get the shell cool enough so you can handle it but peel them while it’s still hot if you wait till the egg gets cold it’s going to be much harder to peel them once you get them covered in cold water in just a minute they’ll be hot still but they’ll be cool enough that you can touch them give them a little squeeze that too will help separate the egg from the shell and I might have squeeze that one too much and then just peel your eggs you do want to rinse your eggs off after you peel them to get any little pieces of shell off of them also eggs that are not as fresh usually peel better so if you’ve got a couple dozen eggs in your refrigerator um boil the older ones for your deviled eggs okay once you’ve got your eggs all peeled you’re going to cut them in half and you’re going to separate them and let me take my eggs out of my Bowl here cuz I’m going to put the yolk in the bowl now you can cut them either way the the short way this way or if you want them more even if you do them this way you’re going to have more white on one side and more yolk on the other side sometimes they still get a little bit uneven but most people cut them the long way but like I said either way it really doesn’t matter um I think my mom and my granny and all my aunts they used to cut them the long way and it is kind of prettier that way even though have more yolk or more white on the bottom than you do on the top your deviled eggs are round this way they’re going to be oblong so whatever you decide you want to do do that you know do it that way this way they’re even and I think this is the way most people do it and this way they also fit in all the little um if you happen to have a devil egg tray and this is another one of those things that Melinda got me from an antique mall or a vendor mall or whatever you call it a flea market type place somewhere she goes a lot and she finds a lot of really cool stuff but you just clean the yolk out of the white part of the egg and separate it and you keep doing that until you get all your eggs cut in half and cleaned out okay so my vintage egg tray here only holds 10 eggs or 10 halves five whole eggs that’s okay I guess they knew you were going to tear up an egg or two when you were cooking them now to this mixture we are going to add a tablespoon of mustard and about 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise you will need to adjust the mustard and the mayonnaise depending on how dry your egg yolks are if your egg yolks are really dry you might have to add a little more mayonnaise and mustard but generally 3 to one mayonnaise to mustard um 3 tbspoon of mayonnaise and a tablespoon of mustard is what I do and the only other thing you really need to add is a little salt you can add a little pepper you can top it with Paprika you can do all kinds of stuff um you can even dye the eggs for holidays and special occasions like um Easter lots of folks dime for Easter they’ll dime pastel colors for their Easter dinner because they are definitely something that you traditionally have on Easter but if you were having a cook out for um a patriotic holiday like the 4th of July or Veterans Day or Memorial Day or something you could do them red white and blue um leave some white and dye some red and blue and do um red white and blue for your patriotic Holiday anyways I’m going to do just about 1/4 teaspoon of salt and it’s to taste and about half that much pepper um you can also do uh seasoned salts uh you can do hot stuff if you wanted to do a little red pepper they used to top them with Paprika when I was a kid and I think a lot of people still do you can top them with Paprika you could top them with a little chili powder if you wanted a little more heat just kind of do it to suit your taste but the mayonnaise and the mustard and the salt are kind of necessary and anything else you know add it to your taste and you want to mash your egg yolks whip them up until they get pretty smooth I mean little lumps are fine and I always just use a fork that’s what everybody in my family always used if you wanted to do a some sort of a mixer I suppose you could all right that’s fairly well mixed you can keep mixing it if you want to you can put this in a popping bag and get a tip and you know pipe it on your deviled eggs if you want to make them like swirly and pretty and a lot of people do that but everybody I ever knew used a spoon and uh they just spooned it in there that’s what my mama and my aunts my granny all used and that’s what I’ve used for all these years and it works just fine and the these are good any holiday dinner um if you’re watching this around Easter time though we do have a up a lot of Easter recipes and I’m going to link that playlist in the end of this video we just did a really cute little lamb cake and I’m going to link that recipe if you want to do that for your Easter dinner for dessert um we have a couple of ham recipes and potato salad and COA and all that stuff if you’re doing a more casual dinner lots of folks do potato salad and COA with Easter dinner anyway but you just fill them all up like this and like I said if you want to Pope it in there you can you can dye your eggs different colors if you want to that’s entirely up to you Romans 4:25 says speaking of Jesus who was delivered for our offenses and was raised again for our justification see no matter what you’re going through that hope of new life that comes on Easter is your hope and if you believe in Jesus if you are a Christian if you know he was raised for your justification if you know he died for your offenses for your sins then your hope is in him and that hope of a new life Justified with God is your hope and no matter what’s going on in your life no matter how dark it seems in 3 days Jesus rose from the dead and in three days hope was born so no matter what your situation is Jesus came to deliver you from that and the Bible calls him our deliverer he the Bible calls him our hope so I hope you are celebrating the hope of Resurrection this Sunday I hope you are celebrating the hope that we have in Christ and if you are in a situation where you need hope where it is your life is desperate and you need to be delivered know that that hope came on Resurrection Sunday when Jesus rose from the dead so that you could be justified and however dark it is the Lord will deliver you from that Darkness seek him because he is there you know I I cannot tell you how much different life is with hope and how much different it is with Jesus there are no words to describe it but when your heart knows him when your heart is filled with the Lord it changes your life and it changes the whole world and more than anything my prayer is that this Resurrection Sunday or whatever day you are watching this you’re your life your heart is filled with that hope so our deviled eggs are done and like I said any holiday these are wonderful they’re like the most requested side dish everybody has to have them for Holiday dinners um whether you’re doing a cookout or whether you’re doing a big ham spread or turkey dinner at Thanksgiving these work they work as an appetizer and as a side dish and whether you leave them plain or you want to top them with some papra or some other some kind of maybe hot pepper flakes you know it’s entirely up to you a little sprinkle on the top does change the way they look whether you spoon them in and over spoon them in some cases like I did this one right here it’s entirely up to you some folks like to add pickle relish to them and if you want pickle relish in yours a little sweet relish or even a little deal relish that again do it to suit your taste you’re making it do it the way you like it and if you’ve got leftovers which you’re probably not going to have I don’t think I’ve ever had a leftover devil egg at a dinner you can add a little sweet pickle relish to this and you can make egg salad sandwiches for lunch on Monday so keep that in mind if you happen to make too many which like I said I’ve never had a leftover deviled egg but also if you’ve got leftover eggs that maybe you’ve died for Easter you can make egg salad out of them and you can make deviled eggs out of them when I was a kid you know Granny Race chickens and we always had tons and tons and tons of eggs so they would um we would dye eggs it was a half a day activity boiling and dying eggs for us when we were kids and then we would have deviled eggs with dinner and then we would have egg salad and we would have pickled eggs and that was you know what they did with all the Easter eggs that they cooked for us because nothing was thrown away when I was a kid I hope you try these if you haven’t had them in a long time they are a very traditional side and like I said no matter what holiday is coming up or what kind of dinner you’re having they’re good for an appetizer and good for a side dish thank you so much for joining us in the hillbilly kitchen What we need to know about ourselves from God's Word and our only hope of being justified before a Holy and righteous God: [WHY WE HAVE NO HOPE IN OURSELVES: Mk. 7:20-23 And he (Jesus) said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things (sins) come from within, and defile the man.] [WHY WE NEED A SAVIOR: Rom. 3:10-28 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things so ever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his (God's) sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ to all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Joh. 3:16 For God so loved the world (us), that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh. 14:6 Jesus said to him (us), I am the way (salvation), the truth (assurance), and the life (eternal): no man comes to (God) the Father, but by me (God the Son). Rom. 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:]

  8. Thanks so very much for telling people how much God loves them and how Jesus died for them! Someone out there needed to hear that message!
Also thank you for the recipe. It's the same as I make except for the instructions for easy peeling. I also like the idea of coloring the eggs!
My own opinion is that they are good Any time!

  9. My wife likes deviled eggs for breakfast part of the time. I have started cooking them in the air fryer. I set it at 270F for 17 minutes and they come out great. I don't have to worry about the eggs cracking and spewing out that way.

  10. Every family member makes a slightly different recipe and I love them all. Family reunions yielded about 5 different varieties each year and I sampled them all.

  11. I have an egg steamer that works on the same idea. You pierce the eggshell with an enclosed "pin" and then put the water in and turn it on. It has a buzzer that goes off when they are done. When you pierce the shell it lets the water/steam in. They peal perfectly every time!

  12. They are great for everything. I am using them for every day because I don't like eggs – and need to add protein to my died.

  13. We host a neighborhood Christmas party each year. I always make a double batch of deviled eggs. There are NEVER any leftover!
