authentic Sicilian cada cake recipe with a canoli Twist ciao everyone welcome back to our kitchen today we’re going to take you on a journey to Sicily with a delicious Twist on a classic dessert we’re making an authentic Sicilian kasada cake with a canoli Twist it’s a perfect blend of flavors and textures that will transport you straight to the streets of Sicily let’s start with the ingredients for the cake one pre-made sponge cake you can also make your own 1 cup ricotta cheese 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1/4 cup chocolate chips 1/4 cup candied fruit mixed peel 1/4 cup chopped pistachios 1/4 cup orange lur optional for the canoli filling 1 cup ricotta cheese 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract for the icing 1 cup powdered sugar 2 tbsp milk 1 teaspoon almond extract green food coloring optional instructions first let’s prepare our filling in a bowl mix together ricotta cheese and powdered sugar until smooth then fold in chocolate chips candied fruit chopped pistachios and orange liquor if using this will be our traditional kasada filling next let’s make our canoli filling in another Bowl combine ricotta cheese powdered sugar mini chocolate chips cinnamon and vanilla extract mix until well combined this will give our Casada that classic canoli flavor now it’s time to assemble our cake take your pre-made sponge cake and slice it horizontally into two layers Place one layer on a serving plate and spread the Casada filling evenly over it then place the other cake layer on top for the icing whisk together powdered sugar milk and almond extract until smooth add a drop of green food coloring if you want to give it that traditional Sicilian green Hue drizzle the icing over the the cake allowing it to drip down the sides finally let’s decorate our kasada cake sprinkle some chopped pistachios on top for a pop of color and texture you can also add some extra chocolate chips or candied fruit for garnish and there you have it our authentic Sicilian kasada cake with a canoli Twist it’s a delightful combination of flavors that will impress your friends and family give it a try and let us know how it turns out don’t forget to like share and subscribe for more delicious recipes from our kitchen blonde Appetito free ebook Starbucks Lor’s coffee the adult alcohol worth $5.99 link to description https Coltin three coffee lover
