I was in NYC this past weekend and dropped into Monkey Bar. They are owned by the same group that owns Au Cheval and as such, they make a nearly identical burger.
It was the best Bacon cheeseburger I’ve ever had due to the absolutely succulent thick cut bacon/belly on it. Everything else was top notch as well. Beef was great, bun was perfect and the cheese was probably just simple american but what more do you need?
Would I ever go get it again though? Nope. Would I advise anyone to go get it? Also, nope. Why? Because the friggin’ thing was $40. You kind of expect to overpay for things in New York but $40 for a burger is ridiculous by any standards.
Of course, a sucker is born every minute and I’m the dummy who shelled out the money for it. Sometimes you just get an itch of curiosity though and you wanna know what something tastes like…. for science, of course.

I bet it tasted like bread and bacon and you could not taste the quality beef.
