Check out [how to make vegan blue cheese](https://youtu.be/VuDPp11btKM) you’ll be surprised it’s only 7 ingredients the only bummer is the amount of patience you need because it needs to create a rind on the outside but trust me the result is INSANE!!! oh and you gotta be a little OCD with sterilizing everything but that’s just boiling water so it’s not the end of the world , I highly recommend you try, vegan blue cheese is my new favourite thing right now!

Whilst this looks great and I’m all for homemade products, please DO NOT use this recipe without reading the description in YouTube first. Note the mention of a proper starter mould culture.

The Ingredients in the video use “a small piece of mouldy bread” as an alternative to the commercial culture in a bid to manually culture Penicillium Roqueforti.

Mouldy bread contains many different species of mould and a number of them can be harmful and includes mycotoxin producing moulds that can make you very sick. There is no way to know *what* you are culturing!

Even with “sourdough” bread, there’s no way of knowing how that product has been handled and what it has come into contact with before it became mouldy.

If you’ve made your own bread and are content to take the risk then that’s on you but personally I’d say that if you really want to make vegan blue cheese then great but don’t rush in just following a video, use recipes using a commercial Penicillium Roqueforti culture and read up on proper cheese making, handling and temperatures before making any sort of blue cheese.

Edited to reflect OP YouTube description.
