Celebrating the arrival of the 2022 vintage, with the 2020 cote de nuit village. For newcomers (if any😂) Skyaasen is a micro-producer (negociant) in Meursault. Norwegian Joachim left the finance life in London to pursue winemaking in Burgundy in 2017. Joachim and his wife Olivia make few but good (if not great) bottles of wine. For me is not only a question about good terroir, but a story of excellent winemaking (and quite different). Low intervention, but usually a little sulphite added at bottling and mostly whole cluster vinifacation. Anyway hear my notes.

Nose: super parfume of dark cherries, candied red fruit, green herbs, slightly floral (think rose petals, almost oriental vibe) and slight reductiveness/smoke, but the depth is just insane, would wear it as a fragrance and it’s difficult to get the nose out of the glass, so many things good on, with different red, black fruits from fresh fruit to stewed/baked with spices/herbs/earth.

Palette: same theme, slight sweetness on the back end, but by no means a sweet wine, however so nice and keeps you coming back for more, great concentration, sexy mouthfeel with some grip, def more tannic than the generic burgundy, but so polished/smooth and balances the depth and acidity so well. Great structure should be amazing for years to come, but damn is so awesome now (and miles better vs when I tried it at release, still awesome at release btw.)

Really excellent, probably best cote de nuit village experience to date.

Damn, I have always wanted to try one of these. Looked all over Beaune last year for it but no luck.

Would love to try this and nice glass.

Any idea what villages it’s drawn from?
