I’ve always eyeballed this nice shiny green eggs in the store and I have always been denied the pleasure of the thought of owning one because of the price. I have an abundance of outdoor cookers and I love to BBQ. I have a Traeger (given to me by a good buddy), OK Joe offset, Weber kettle, blackstone, and even a portable gas grill. As I looked out at my patio aka my outdoor kitchen I couldn’t help but notice a spot just big enough for a large bge. The itch was back so I took to fb marketplace and started looking around. For about 6 months I casually browsed until the other day one caught my eye. The shape it’s in looked really good and there were no visible cracks. The downside was it didn’t come with a stand. I sent the ad to my buddy and I told him I’d probably pass since it didn’t have a stand and $200 seemed a bit much for one. Not even 10 min after getting off the phone with him he calls me up and says “you aren’t going to believe this”. He found a stand that was like new in the trash at his job that was for the exact size egg that I looked at. I messaged the seller and he informed me he would not hold it until the weekend for me to look at it (I live 1.5 hours away), so I sent my good buddy over to look at it since he was 10 min away. He told me to jump on it, no cracks, some upgrades, fresh gasket, the bands need to be replaced and she needs some cleaning. I had him pick it up for me and tomorrow I get to go pick it up and also meet another person who had a brand new cover and acacia tables for $75. I am so excited and the best part the money for the egg ($300) is all birthday money for my bday coming up! I couldn’t have asked for a better gift or even the way everything lined up. Finally I will have the last piece to my outdoor kitchen. I am ready to make pizzas and wings and smoke some butts. I look forward to restoring it and maybe passing it down to one of my sons one day.
