Welcome to my weekly grocery haul for my family of 13! Another week, another grocery shop to feed this growing tribe. Included in today’s grocery haul are some ingredients for making sausage rolls for my son’s 2nd birthday. The original recipe can be found on my channel:
Prices, including Australian total, as well as United States equivalent are included below. Tips to save on your grocery shop:
– Purchase produce that is in season – it tends to be much cheaper than imported items (and fresher!)
– Include a ‘fend for yourself’ night (or two!). This helps to ensure that leftovers are used up, gives one a night off cooking a meal, and allows everyone to have something simple that they really enjoy.
– Use up leftovers. I often turn pasta dishes and Mexican night leftovers into pasta and rice bakes. Add a bit of extra cheese and you have a whole new meal!
– Purchase items that are on sale. In my part of the world, there are always half-price sales. I take this to mean that that’s the actual value of the item. If I don’t get something half-price, I tend to purchase the home brand equivalent, if available.
– Make a meal plan and shopping list
– Shop online. It’s easier to keep track of how much you’re spending
– Shop less often. If shopping fortnightly or monthly allows for free delivery and the ability to purchase in bulk, consider shopping less often than weekly.
Today I have purchased items for the following meal plan:
Homemade sausage rolls and salad
Marinated chicken drumsticks and vegetables
‘Fend for Yourself’
Lamb Curry
Chicken soup with garlic Turkish bread
Vegetarian pasta
Leftover vegetarian pasta made into bake
The total price for this grocery haul was:
Woolworths: $525.19AU ($346.05US)
Coles: $260.83AU ($171.86US)
Total: $786.02AU ($517.91US)

hi welcome to my [Music] channel I’m lyanna mom of 11 from Melbourne Australia and this is my weekly shopping haul for my family of 13 it feels like I’m uploading these constantly at the moment but I am about a week behind still um after having Co uh so I’m a little bit behind on the editing that’s why it may seem like I’m uploading shopping hall videos every second day but it’s actually I am only shopping weekly so this video was filmed on Charlie’s second birthday on the 30th of May and I still have another one to pop up before my next actual real time shop uh on Wednesday so I’ll attempt to get that up before then so that then I’m caught up as well as that tomorrow Anthony and I as promised are going to sit down and film the Australian food video where I show you the snacks that you’ve seen over the years in my shopping Halls I’m actually going to open the boxes show what’s in there how we eat them and we’re going to do some Aussie trivia at the same time which will be lots of fun and we’ll have some laughs as well it’s been a long time since Anthony’s been one of my videos he enjoys it I think he’s a bit worried because he’s uh just recovering from laryngitis so his voice isn’t quite what it normally is but I said you won’t mind it’ll be fun anyway so that’s something we’re filming tomorrow and I’ll have that up within a few days in the meantime enjoy this video I’ve got a very busy morning today and a whole busy day I’ve got to make a chocolate cake I’m making sausage rolls for dinner I think I’ll film that and pop that up as a recipe video cuz I’m going to make it up as I go along as I do everything so let’s get into this shop first shop today is from Woolworth Australia online and I’ve just had this delivered it’s still early in the morning if my you see my pajamas they’re actually uh Mickey Mouse pajamas that my kids got me for Mother’s Day so they’re very cute so you might see those but um yes I’m not showing my face cuz I’m not ready yet and then later on we have the Kohl’s delivery coming uh and that’s about half as much of this again that makes sense um in between that um we’re doing a picnic in the park and stuff it’s Charlie’s birthday so busy day chicken drumsticks I got three lots of that uh I’m going to marinade those and we’re going to have them with vegetables one night last week for Isabelle’s birthday I made a beef Curry and everyone loved it so much that I’m going to make it again this week when we have chicken drumsticks we then keep all of the bones and in the pressure cooker I make broth from that and then I use that a day or two later for make Bing chicken soup and I just put chicken thighs and veggies and all that sort of maybe I should make a video anyway and use the real broth and it’s amazing so we’re going to be having chicken and veggie soup one night so yes tonight I’m making sausage rolls homemade sausage rolls so I just got this beef sausage mint I put heaps veggies in and that sort of thing and got puff pastry don’t make my own puff pastry um and that’s going to be delicious we’re going to have that with salad I got some baby peas some frozen strawberries an orange juice and two milks I’ve got plenty more milk coming from CO’s later 4 kilo of Greek yogurt some cream two block Butters and then some cream cheese we pop this in vegetarian pasta which were having two nights we always make a double batch and usually Jack my eldest makes it he does a great job uh I got some Smoky cheese slices I really enjoy one of these on top of eggs needed just a couple of baking items so I got some plain flour 2 Kil of that and some Bic carb soda I got a honey a smooth peanut butter and a crunchy peanut butter some chai tea we’re going through that very quickly lately and then one night we’re doing Fen your s night so I like to make sure there’s plenty of options there so I got some tin spaghetti these uh uh Killer Beans Smoky campfire barbecue I got a couple of those I thought my older boys would love them uh four tin of regular baked beans and a couple of tomato soup and then I just got three dozen eggs cuz I’ve still got about three dozen eggs in the fridge 2 kilo of brown onions and 2 kilo of red onions four heads of broccoli four Bunches of small bananas lettuce for tonight’s salad to go with the sausage roll so I got this Gourmet Leaf mix it’s just nice it’s got like butter lettuce and stuff and then to go with it to add a little extra crunch I got some iceberg lettuce then I’ll put other things in with it obviously a nice big Kent pumpkin they’re really cheap at the moment it was only $3 something it’s huge two lots of celery one’s going to be for soup and um sausage rolls and things and the other will just be for eating and then I got garlic carrots and I believe I got carrots at Kohl’s as well and I was I meant to take these out of the Woolworth shop so I’m going to have lots and lots of carrots I won’t need to get them next week some kiwi fruit some potatoes bag of capsicum or bell pepper or pepper whatever you choose to call them some zucchini some fresh parsley I’m going to pop that in uh the sausage rolls and I can also put it through soup and things like that and then hat avocados are back so that’s very exciting so I got six of those as well as three of these lovely melons they’re mini melons um they are quite dear for their size they they’re quite small but they have a very thin skin this is like all watermelon in there they’re really nice so we got one last week and this time I decided to get through we loved it so much I got a tonic water for Anthony and some Shin Ramen for Jack and Samuel three packets of these lovely Turkish bread rolls there’s four in each we’ll have that with the chicken soup and I’ll make garlic butter to go with it and actually I put I put fresh parsley in the garlic butter as well some fun cereal for Saturday I’ve got neutr grain and then I’ve got wheat bcks now I never ever get these these were half price and I thought oh that might be fun for Charlie’s birthday so I got him to choose which ones he’d like he only is turning two today um but I gave him a choice between the strawberry or the cinnamon and he chose this he said cinnamon and then I asked him to to point to which one he wanted he pointed to these and said cinnamon so so cinnamon is what we’ve got I got some oats for porridge through the wiek mint slic biscuits for Anthony or to put out on the weekend some of these musle clusters Arnold’s Farm berry crumble ones some rice cuz I just needed a little more for when we have the curry then I got six large tins of tomato for a few different recipes as well as four jars of Pata sauce olive oil some cocoa powder for making the chocolate cake today some bay leaves cuz we’re almost all out put them in soups and stews and things and then last night I picked up this I went to get last minute things like a birthday card um and made sure I had fun cereal for Charlie’s kids one some scaras a candle this is coconut milk and pachuli shampoo for the kids bathroom shampoo for little kids uh some bin bags some vinegar for I’m putting that through the wash instead of sanitizer now there’s actually a vinegar over with the food that I forgot to show it’s exactly the same thing but um that was that’s going to be for the kitchen this is for the laundry then some dishwashing liquid two laundry liquids some dishwasher powder glass cleaner some bench spray I love this brand it’s absolutely wonderful love everything they make and toilet paper and I’ll be back in a tick with the Co shop the afternoon and I have the Kohl’s shop here and today I purchased 12 milks from koh’s I think I thought all up I purchased 12 but I’ve got 14 all up so we’ll have extra milk Great haul Liana. I really enjoying seeing what groceries look like in other countries. Happy belated second Birthday to Charlie! He's such a cutie pie! Blessings to you and the family. Take care.
Happy Birthday๐. Has your groceries increased as much as ours have in the U.S.A.?
Hi Liana, it takes time to film and edit, it's ok we understand. Happy 2nd Birthday to Charlie ๐ฐ๐ I hope the day was a special one. Love the grocery haul, Woolworths and Coles have had some great specials lately.
Great video, I really like that you do your shopping hauls quicky, some others take forever and go about how they are going to use a loaf of bread or a block of butter (very annoying for me). But there are times (especially non-US videos I do need more detail) aka Cheezels and Strawberry Freddos. I guess non-US items in general. Although common sense kicks in for most, but on occasion I need to google the items to figure out the specifics. Regardless I was just venting, because I just love your grocery hauls for your large family and I am so glad you are back (long time subscriber). Take care and all the best to you, your family and your channel.
