Me and my mortal weakness for daytime stickies. This one more of an affordable example of Barsac compared to Coutet and Climens, but still quite enjoyable from other experiences. Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon blend.

Stored at 45, popped and poured. Cork came out cleanly with the Ah-so.

Visually, a clean golden color, leaning more yellow than bronze at almost 20 years of age.

On the nose, the first whiff upon pouring was the familiar scent of acetone/nail polish remover from some examples of Botrytis wines. It faded away within a few minutes, however – revealing more bakery than tropical fruit stand to my surprise. Honey, creme brulee, fruit filled pastries – nutmeg. There are hints of the usual mangoes & pineapples, but not as pronounced as I've had elsewhere.

On the palate, the stone fruits are back! The wonderful taste of apricot jam, peach marmalade. Not a lot of acidity here, with a decent heft of body and mouthfeel, plenty of sweetness. At 14%, one of the stronger varieties of this region I've had, but the heat isn't really noticeable either. The sweetness and the body are the primary elements here.

Not terribly complex, but it's familiar, delicious, and exactly what I know I'm getting as a typical example of the region. And at $25 for a 375, a great buy for a Barsac with a bit of age on it. Although I'm still grabbing a Climens or Coutet given the option. Recommended!

What about you fine folks, what are you drinking today?
