I feel if you wrapped the avocado slices into a rose, this presentation would be perfect. I’ll wreck a poke bowl, however it looks, though.

Feel like this breaks rule #4. Not much thought to this at all

Funny enough, to me at least, there is enough rice. I would’ve layered everything on top of the rice so you have Rice, Poke, Avocado, Radish, and then Sesame.

Hard no from me. I’m sure it’s super tasty, because all poke is, but this is barely above “plopped on a plate”.

Here are a few suggestions of ways to go.

    1. If you’re going for the food magazine/YouTube recipe look, choose a tighter bowl, do rice at the bottom, and then all the toppings grouped into segments. This has a defined look in a very specific style – I personally don’t love it, and also think you end up with weird ratios and not enough space to eat the damn thing.

    2. Separate the rice and fish into separate dishes, dress both, serve as a pair.

    3. base of rice, flatter rather than a mount. Fish on top, try to place it, no more than a couple of pieces at a time, rather than putting a whole scoop. Garnish on top and around.

What I would do for practice is to just try plating one portion at a time, think about what you’re trying to do, execute, and then assess. If it’s totally wrong, plate the next one completely different; if it’s just a bit messy, try again in the same style.

One additional, specific tip – contrast is important. White sesame shows up well on dark, soy-coated salmon, but poorly on white rice and pale green avocado.

I feel like you were joking when you made this at home for yourself. Looks super tasty though. Stacked would be better. And one more color like red dot or black drizzle.
