2nd Traeger smoke. I got two hand me down Traegers. I used the large one (BBQ075) last week and I used the little one (BBQ07C) yesterday on 2 tri tips.
Two 2.5 lbs Tri Tips with a salt, pepper, garlic dry rub. Smoked to 120 degrees for about 2.5 hours roughly, then seared on my propane bbq for 2 minutes in each side, then put back in the smoker on high, untill reached 135 degrees.
Family loved the juicy, flavorful, tender end result.

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

Man for a second I thought you were searing over a grease fire in the Traeger, had me in the first half ngl.
I’m confused with the block of wood.
It looks delicious great job! With that being said, are there any openings to join your family?
so, youve decided to stick your meat probes into a 2×4. This must be a level of genius I, with my very simple mind can not even begin to fathom.
I should call her.
My hand me down BBQ075 ( the larger smoker) shows a consistently larger delta T from the on board probe to my remote probe than the BBQ07C (the smaller unit) does comparatively. I understand that this is highly anecdotal because so many variables are not identical or similar.
Maybe the built-in probes need to be replaced in one or both.
Maybe the larger volume, distance from heat source, taller vessel create these deviation, maybe not I’ve only used each smoker (large and small) once each compared to the smaller smoker?
Maybe the controller logic, P, PI or PID based ( does not seem to be PID based at all) that controls the auger between the two smokers are worlds apart or maybe exactly the same but I don’t see an overshoot error+correcting derivative function going to work here.
Just anecdotal that the smaller unit seems to do a better job of maintaining a tighter temperature and maybe it’s because there is less space to maintain? Not sure. But one thing is for sure, as I begin to use both smokers more, over time, I will be modifying my probes and wooden 2×4 block many more times, as needed
